We have enough money we just choose not to tax all income

Just so you know, this extra $500 billion is enough to END POVERTY using a negative income tax with a 50% phaseout rate. It's also FIVE TIMES the cost of the enhanced child tax credit that cut child poverty in half, that was just too costly to make permanent according to all Republicans + Manchin.
Trump: "I have determined that, for the Good of our Country, especially in these very troubled and dangerous times, our Military Budget for the year 2027 should not be $1 Trillion Dollars, but rather $1.5 Trillion. This will allow us to build the 'Dream Military' that we have long been entitled to."

Can we have a class action suit against the DOJ for failure to perform? I paid their salaries with federal income tax. I have not gotten my monies worth!

Staggering. Annual Brexit losses are equivalent to what would be the government reducing income tax by 9 pence
New analysis of the economic impact of Brexit is clear cut ➡️ it was bad.

After major disasters like flooding in recent years in Minnesota, Americans should not have to worry about their taxes increasing because they no longer qualify for some tax credits. My bipartisan bill ensures taxpayers don’t get penalized for income drops caused by disasters.

Reminded that in the eve-of-budget briefing to special advisors, one of Rachel Reeves' advisors compared the people who thought they should raise income tax to 'people who don't know how to land the plane':

BofA: On the K... In December, lower-income households’ after-tax wage growth was 1.1% YoY, while higher-income households’ wage growth was 3.0% YoY.

Inflation running just below 3%, mind you.

This year the BC government set the wealth test for the HOG at above $2M, while renters get income tested at around $65k (adjusted net family income) for the full tax credit and get less money than the HOG for e.g. my condo.
(Yes, this is my annual call to get rid of the HOG)

In 1975, the highest rate of income tax was 83%, inflation peaked at 25% and over six million working days were lost to strike action. The people who run family firms and farms are very clearly thick as two short planks.

LT Study. Trickle down Trick.

“The incomes of rich grew much faster in countries where tax rates were lowered. Instead of trickling down to middle class, tax cuts for the rich may not accomplish much more than help the rich keep more of their riches & exacerbate income inequality” Like NZ. #nzpol
50 years of tax cuts for the rich failed to trickle down, economics study says
Tax cuts for the wealthy didn't boost the economies of the U.S. and 17 other countries — but they did worsen income inequality.

For the first time in years, many Americans enrolled in a health insurance plan via the Affordable Care Act marketplace will need to keep a careful accounting of their annual income — or risk a hefty federal tax bill.

I was up all night thinking about how I am going to spend the income tax rebate, tariff tax rebate, the health care subsidy rebate, the Patriot rebate from Trump. I think I will splurge and buy some hamburger.

If you want to ‘bash the boomers’ don’t go for a benefit that you’ll need yourself one day.

Better to tax the final salary pensions you’ll never see. Cutting NI and raising income tax would have done that.
As simple as that, but also young people might be better at understanding compound interest than their elected representatives; the triple lock is a small transfer from today's young to today's old, but a much bigger transfer to tomorrow's old (ie today's young) from tomorrow's young
