Today I concluded my sequels rewatch with "Rise of Skywalker" and it turns out that episode 9 is every bit as bad as I remembered, sometimes even worse. It is incoherent, utterly immemorable, and worst of all - boring. It was just dull.
Today I went on to watch "The Last Jedi" and was incredibly surprised it wasn't half as bad as I remembered it. True, there are some incredible flaws in this, but were it not a Star Wars film it would be very good. But since it is, it can only be remembered for amazing visuals & weird choices.
Rewatched "The Force Awakens" today and ... it's good? Like, it's actually a good movie, and more importantly, it's really good Star Wars. Not at its best, but definitely top half. Makes you realize just how bad pts. 8&9 were to ruin the sequels so thoroughly. What horrible scriptwriting.

Thank you! Today kicked off very early (as in the wee hours) and I have been surprised that I can even pull some answers up from the recesses of a memory I often think of as immemorable. Of course, I have guessed or made conclusions using context clues. So, there's that :)

This has been a thing for time immemorable, men are socialized this way very purposefully and it's reinforced at almost every turn. We don't say 'Girls will be girls' for instance. This is sort of the logical outcome of this practice. We need to change culture to change men more broadly
