#morninglistening to #Pogorelich (who'll be playing at the wienerkonzerthaus tonight) in Tchaikovsky's PC w/Abbado and the LondonSymphonyOrchestra on DG.
Will it be the good kind of crazy (like here) or an off-batch tonight?

#morninglistening to beautiful #Arabella - with Solti and LisaDellaCasa, Gueden, Dermota, London and @viennaphilharmonic, which doesn't hurt. It's among the last Strauss operas to bid me access but not necessarily due to faults of its own.

#morninglistening to #NikolaiLugansky's new Schumann album on harmoniamundi which includes a mightily driven Faschingsschwank from Vienna, befitting how much R.S. disliked this town. :-)

#morninglistening to more Russian Bach on the piano, but I have to admit that #SviatoslavRichter in this repertoire does NOTHING for me. The concertos are passable @ best, the Suite lacks pulse & grace. I much prefer the aforementioned plus Sokolov, Batagov, Gavrilov, Nikolayeva, Lifschitz, Ashk.

Has anyone ever heard Glenn Gould's radio documentary "The Search for Petula Clark"

I wonder if there are any Gould apologists who can talk themselves into that string of pretensions and garbage casual asides on music.

#morninglistening to #JohannSebastianBach's TheArtOfTheFugue w/#VladimirFeltsman on Nimbus. Feltsman is always a very good, safe choice in Bach, even as I might prefer Koroliev over all. TAotF is perhaps not his most inspired Bach album but he certainly never missteps. Favorite versions, anyone?

#morninglistening to one of several very cool "Discoveries" albums of @RiccardoChailly, all on @deccaclassics, here w/Verdi and @jeanyvesthibaudet. Unheard-of and unsuspected pieces by familiar greats. Like the Verdi PianoConcerto (essentially). Love it.

#morninglistening to what should, in theory, be SUCH an interesting disc: Granados' piano-transcriptions of Scarlatti-Sonatas. Maybe they're not that great. But w/ DouglasRiva's pedestrian, plodding delivery, you'd never know they are at fault. Just imagine someone like, say, TzimonBarto do those!?!
