Finished my re-playthrough of the Legacy of Kain series. Still an absolutely bewildering series: mad amounts of ambition and grandeur, complete crapshoot of design decisions, confused back-and-forth in its success and frustrating at worst... but phenomenal at it best.

Finished my re-playthrough of the Legacy of Kain series. Still an absolutely bewildering series: mad amounts of ambition and grandeur, complete crapshoot of design decisions, confused back-and-forth in its success and frustrating at worst... but phenomenal at it best.

I've kept "I hate myself, I hate clover, and I hate bees" pinned above my desk since I first started studying evolutionary biology as an undergraduate. So relatable to get extremely frustrated with your study system.

I can't say we were close or actively kept in touch, but Crescent was one of my roomies during my first MFF - during my first trip to the States nonetheless - and helped made that experience what it was. A truly sweet, friendly soul. This is incredibly sad - my condolences to family & friends.

Feb 5th was Runeberg's Day in Finland, named after one of our national poets, heralded as the day of Finnish poetry, blah blah anyway the important thing is that his wife made excellent cakes now called Runeberg's tarts & I belatedly made an interpretation of 'em today.

Bit of a random music library rediscovery from the other night: the 2000s Finnish chiptune duo Desert Planet's solid concrete banger from 2003, "Lost Galaxians". This was on repeat a lot at one point in time and still works.
