In order to apply for a permanent residence permit in Germany my wife needs a type D national visa for Germany which is valid 90 days and is only meant to give you access for the application. She has a type C Schengen visa, which allows her to be here, but not apply for residence. So she can 1/

Out of morbid curiosity, what was the biggest pain you've ever been in? For those who've given birth, maybe also name the second biggest pain because I am fairly sure childbirth is on an entirely different level altogether.

In Germany, every year on New Year's Eve they publish the results of the year-long survey of which city in Germany is the happiest. It is a long-standing tradition and without fail the city of Neuss always wins. That is why it is common to great the new year screaming "Frohes Neuss!"

Just finished "Wake Up Dead Man" which on my feed had recently received some rather mixed reviews. After watching it, I don't understand why. I felt this was a fantastic entry into the Knives Out series. The only thing I get is that people wanted more Benoit Blanc, but the film was grandiose!

Eines Tages werde ich ein wirklich langes Traktat darüber verfassen was Gedichte & Lieder mit simplen aber künstlerischen Texten (Herbert Grönemeyer, Heinz Rudolf Kunze) von solchen mit simplistischen (Mark Forster, Ich & Ich) unterscheidet & das Eine Kunst ist & das Andere Müll & dann is vorbei

One reason why I am fairly disinterested in most "AI": where tasks are analytically decomposable into a lot of simple tasks that can be addressed with if-else or other mathematical techniques, these methods will always be superior to e.g. LLMs etc.
LLMs only excel in areas where there is a high 1/

Zu Weihnachten hat mir meine Orts-SPD einen Flyer mit Weihnachtsgrüßen im Briefkasten hinterlassen. Niemand glaubt so sehr an die frohe Botschaft der Hoffnung wie eine SPD, die glaubt, im ländlichen Bayern noch Stimmen holen zu können.

Mit 50 Sachen an einem an einer Haltestelle haltenden und warnblinkenden Bus in einem dicken Pickup-Truck vorbeizufahren und dabei auch noch langgezogen zu hupen ist schon eine doch recht interessante Art, die eigene Unzulänglichkeit zu kommunizieren

That last paragraph is for everyone wondering why turning your music "just a little louder" can really damage your hearing: doubling the volume means 10 more decibels, means tenfold the stress on your ears. Another correlate is when someone tells you a noise was e.g. "60-70" decibels you know 1/
