One of my heroes would have been 81 years old today, had he not died too young, at the age of just 50.
Alan Hull was known as the leading light of Lindisfarne, but he also had a fine solo career.
'Malvinas Melody' was his haunting lament for the lives lost in the Falklands.

The C in CV comes from aircraft carriers being treated as a subset of cruisers, not from the word carrier.

Weirdly, even that's likely not why the British initially called the Invincible class "through deck cruisers".

He was briefly popular after serving as a helicopter pilot during the Falklands War in 1982. That was 44 years ago, why are you so bad at this?

Andy said that he couldn't sweat because of Falklands war trauma, but I bet he's passing more than just sweat now.
February 20, 2026 at 7:34 AM
What if this is real, and he's telling the truth, and that sad asshole hasn't cum since the Falklands?
February 20, 2026 at 5:41 AM
Perhaps Andy was once briefly respected for seeing action in the Falklands war. That was decades ago and he’s been widely despised since.

…and probably fucked his way through the Falklands, too.

I FOUGHT IN THE FALKLANDS!!!

I think that particular pack o lies was trotted out by him as a consequence of the "action" he saw in the Falklands. Tried to convince Emily Maitlis, of all people, of the veracity of this fiction during that car crash News night interview.

here i made the map slightly more obnoxious

I remember when Andrew was called "Randy Andy" by the US tabloids. A party boy who had a string of girlfriends. Coming home to the UK from the Falklands as "a war hero".

I would love to see a Commonwealth Winter Games - Canada, Scotland, New Zealand, Australia and the Falklands, with some Jamaica and a few dual nationals thrown in! But may the best team win the curling! Looking forward to the packed viewing venues and ecstatic celebrations. 😀

The whole country supported the Falklands war. It was immense. And it was started by a failing Junta not Thatcher. It was a a wafer thin call to go or not. Leach told her the Navy would do it in 48 hours and off they went

I doubt there's even any in the place where Reform should be in charge.

The Falklands.

People were saying the same about our personnel before the Falklands and they were wrong then too.
Ehhh, China would destroy the US in a war now. We’d run out of ships in a month and missiles in 3. A soft, anti-intellectual, consumerist populace is not equipped to fight China.

But he got shot at in the Falklands and can't sweat cut him some slack
February 19, 2026 at 10:15 PM
When he flew a chopper in the Falklands, maybe.
Not much since - best known as an arms dealer until the paedo stuff surfaced.
February 19, 2026 at 9:47 PM
No, but he did fly a helicopter during the Falklands Conflict in 1982. It's just the sort of thing that Andy would brag about.
February 19, 2026 at 9:47 PM
If only Nonce Andrew had died during the Falklands campaign he would be remembered as a hero helicopter pilot and not what he will go in the record books for.

I doubt he'd have wanted that but he was the spare, he lost that role years ago.

Exactly. Briefly in the Falklands war.

Other than with his mother and briefly in the 80s when he came back from the Falklands and was yet to blot his copy book, when was he popular? He was always a bit of a joke due to gossip he was personally odious (not a nonce just a lech and a berk) and monumentally thick.
Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, the brother of King Charles III, was a popular member of the royal family and adored by his mother, Queen Elizabeth II. He fell from grace because of his friendship with Jeffrey Epstein. Here is what else to know.

During the Falklands War, when Hong Kong was still a British colony, local news was full of coverage of him being a dashing, heroic helicopter pilot.
What a momentous day for the British state. And what an iconic image to capture it

The Andrew Formerly Known As Prince flew a helicopter as a missile decoy in the Falklands (1982).

The Duke of Suffolk served as a JTAC and an AH-64 gunner.

Both wear Operational Service Medals. They can't be revoked. They were there.

Unlike the rest wearing gizzits from Mummy/Granny.

Briefly popular after the Falklands and the wedding. Generally considered an oxygen thief post-1990.
