Just did that with the sleeves on a top down in the round jumper. Couldn't be arsed with the dpn's so only did enough with them back and forward until I could get onto ordinary needles and motored down to the cuffs in no time.

What a gorgeous pattern. I'm with you on the dpn's.

First balaclava I knit (for my son to wear under his helmet). I have lined it with an old T-shirt because the yarn was too ticklish and caught in his stubble 😅.

Because I tried a small circumference item on dpn's and it was an epic fail. Eventually I want to be able to make small items like mitts and Christmas ornaments. I may wait until I am more used to colorwork.

In agreement with your comments about the “exquisitely concise movements”.

And then I saw your comment about dying fish flopping- and minutes later, I am still laughing.

I like using DPN’s, but always feel like I am wrestling a porcupine when I use them.

I also tried knitting socks with metal DPN’s. The needles kept falling out! 😂 Bamboo or wood needles are the way to go. 😉

Wooden dpn's dont slip near as much as aluminum. Well worth it.

They are so lovely. Makes me want to get my dpn's out and cast on. Even if I do swear for the first few rows. I have tried circular needles, but don't seem to get the hang of them.

Making faux cable fingerless mittens. Knitted flat as I find knitting in the round on DPN’s makes my fingers seize up. I can’t be bothered using magic loop method.
November 23, 2025 at 3:30 PM
Yes, I love them so much that I have 2 sets of the ChiaoGoo IC shorties in the red pouch. Not a fan of magic loop because there is so much wasted time and wrist wear and tear shoving those cables back and forth. With DPN’s I feel like Edward Scissorhands.

Knitters are asking me: Is 4-needle double-knitting related to 4 double-pointed needles?

The answer is no.

An illustrated post shows the difference + what 4-needle double-knitting actually is.

I started a pair on straight needles until I got about a cm of rib then transferred to dpn's, which I hate so let me know how the 30cm works out. I used to have a pattern that was all on straight needles and you just had to sew it up, I wish I still had that.

Well, so far I've decided I can't do the cast on method on dpn's and then realised it's for a different weight yarn and as I now have zero trust in the pattern, I need to find one I think I can do that gets off to a better start, so don't hold your breath 🤔

So glad I'm not the only one who goes through this exact same process with hats. DPN's seem so sloooow and clunky after whizzing along on the circular for so long.

“I won’t bring my DPN’s I won’t need them whilst I’m away.”

Anyways guess whose not even in the county yet and needs their DPN’s

I’m using dpn’s for the whole sock. Had a go at magic loop but I think I’ll have to watch YouTube videos again and practice. 😅

Tbf I was too (esp since socks aren't my forte) but when I figured it out, realized it was so much easier! Circulars v dpn's ftw. Know of a few ravelry patterns &some great YT tutorials (VeryPinkKnits) but taking the class from the pattern designer was a big help. Happy 2 share what I learned w you!
