If you don’t have time for the drive to Dawson but want a mini experience of a town lost in time, Atlin is 2 hours from Whitehorse and has some really cute accommodations as well.

Maybe not of interest but to cut time, you can also leave your car in Whitehorse and fly to Dawson. Do a day tour to the Tombstones, or even take a further flight to Old Crow or Inuvik for real midnight sun.

I think the biggest thing would be that if you have the chance, to get up to Dawson City. Now the issue there is that it is a 6 hour drive north of Whitehorse, and it’s not the most scenic drive. But Dawson is so cool.

I was fortunate to see the Northern Lights in Whitehorse in the summer of 2000, and still remember them vividly.

Dawson City is chock full of history - go gold panning or just enjoy being immersed in gold rush fever. Whitehorse is a fun town that's changed a lot in the past couple of decades. Braeburn Lodge cinnamon buns are a must, but be warned...they're big.

I grew up in Dawson Creek (Mile Zero of the Alaska Highway) and have driven the Alaska Highway as far as Whitehorse. Also thinking of driving it again this summer.

For nearly a decade, the Whitehorse resident has made similar benches. Aside from a few spirited away by people, there are dozens across the city, from Canyon City to Hillcrest. Robert said there are more than 40 in all. Some are found nestled deep along woodland trails.

Wow - swings like that are unusual in Dawson Creek, aren't they? We were forecast to climb from -35 to -16 here in Whitehorse today, but it didn't happen.

I'm looking up at housing for sale in and around Whitehorse. Can't afford any of it but I like looking.

Of all places I've been in Canada (8 of 10 provinces, 2 of 3 territories) Whitehorse is the only other I'd consider making home.

Moved here in 2000 and was pretty sure it was our coldest winter. A bit of a shock for many who moved to Whitehorse in the last decade.
