Hiking along a muddy path on a majestic, chiselled hillside. The green vegetation works hard to push some brilliance through a muted palette. The clouds are wrapped around everything on the hillside and about to deliver something a lot more ambitious than mist. We will soon retreat as the trail will become nature's version of a "slip 'n' slide".

A view of Bahía de Valparaíso from high up the hill. We are sitting on a balcony in an eatery in a more gentile part of the city, as you go down to the waterfront ("the Flats") things are a bit dodgier. There's a church, with a green roof and various other colourful buildings down the hill leading the blue waters of the port, under blue skies.

The port hasn't much going on, a victim of privatization that saw thousands of workers immediately unemployed under the new ownership. Our guide told us that it didn't take long to go from thriving to impoverished / dodgy. Much of that story is told in the stunning street art in these hills.

Madonnina is a statue of the Virgin Mary atop Milan Cathedral in Italy, c 1762. The gilded statue sits on Duomo di Milano's tallest spire, 108.5 meters , Madonnina was added in 1774.

A late-Spring cascade sweeps through a series of small pools and over rocks, taking it to the stream below. The rocks are wet and slippery, some have moss where the sun rarely hits the ground.

Hiking the extensive trail network through temperate rainforest in Pinecone Burke Provincial Park. Hiking down to the a stream that feed the Coquitlam River takes you to Woodland Falls, also known as the Lower Sawblade Falls. A 0.8 sec exposure @ f / 18.
