As some of you will have seen, I had the pleasure of photographing some amazing birds being flown by a falconer in the Highlands. So for today, I thought I’d share the incredible female Goshawk; elusive, secretive, and a complete powerhouse of speed and strength. #birds

The bird is similar in appearance to the Sparrowhawk but far larger, with a grey and white barred chest, fanned and rounded tail, and reddish orange eyes- these birds are masters of aerial acrobatics and they whip through the woodland trees at speed. The image features soft green and brown in the lower foreground from the mosses and heathers, and a grey background of distant pine trees.
