Clearly a big fan of VZV vaccination as an ID doc, but I need to dig into this deeper before it makes its way into patient counseling for me. Curious what others took away from the sex-specific differences, and wonder if other types of analysis (e.g., TTE) might be better suited for this...

**Abstract:** Predicting the efficacy of varicella-zoster virus (VZV) vaccines, particularly in immunocompromised individuals, remains a significant clinical challenge. This paper proposes a novel approach leveraging hyperdimensional computing (HDC) combined with Bayesian inference to predict shingles vaccine efficacy based on a fused multi-modal dataset, including patient demographics, immunological markers, vaccination history, and genetic predispositions. Our system, termed HyperBayes-Shingles, demonstrates improved predictive accuracy compared to traditional statistical methods, potentially enabling personalized vaccination strategies and improved clinical outcomes.

honestly even the chicken pox exposure isn't amazing, we're all getting shingles in our 30s now because since the VZV vaccine there's less "community" exposure to chickenpox so instead of developing it when you're old and your immune system slows down you just develop it ... sooner :)

I had measles twice. Once as a baby (with mumps), so then the GP said there was no point vaccinating me. Caught it again about 8, not hospitalised but (same) GP brought med students to the house because it was such a bad case. (Still no VZV, but glad I can now pay for that vax as an adult.)
