Look, all I'm saying is, while you /should/ depict your fantasy people as semi-regularly miserable and prone to caving people's skulls in, it's entirely possible they decided to cave skulls in a regional assembly of local smallholders, not because Lord Borys Jonson ordered them to.

EUDR now starts end-2026 after another delay. It aims to curb deforestation by requiring full supply-chain traceability for EU imports.

Experts call it vital, but warn smallholders in SE Asia lack support on land docs and geolocation, risking exclusion and deeper inequities.
SE Asia’s smallholders struggling to meet EUDR: Interview with RECOFTC’s Martin Greijmans
Smallholders produce significant quantities of Vietnam’s coffee, Indonesia’s palm oil, and Thailand’s rubber exported into the EU. Yet under the bloc’s upcoming deforestation-free regulation (EUDR),…

The #EUDR delay isn’t the end of ambition. It’s a chance to fix a system that wasn’t ready for real supply chains.
If Europe wants forest protection, it can’t shift the cost onto smallholders.

Video of the devastation left by Russia's aerial bombing of Zaporizhzhia.

Five lives were ended, 8 others were injured, youngest a 17 year old boy.

Countless other lives upended. No homes or no business after an entire row of smallholders' pavilions were ripped apart.

The new #EUOrganic Regulation brings complex admin & financial burdens that many smallholders can’t meet without support, threatening their organic certification & EU market access.

The #FairTrade Movement urges the EU to act now to support farmers & protect global organic trade.

Not sure, it is the Wildlife Trust after all and I've had some really good experience of several, particularly the excellent Hampshire and Isle of Wight Wildlife Trust. So fingers crossed, mind you, I would still like to see parcels made available to smallholders etc but it seems expensive...

2/4 A report by CDE Lao staff members et al. sheds light on the durian surge in #Laos. While the boom has created new opportunities, it reveals also challenges: as a highly capital-intensive crop, durian offers little benefit to smallholders and has spurred elite capture and #landspeculation.

Oh sure, and they did their share.

Ironically, I think the smallholders were mostly wiped out by big agra and superfarms (think Tyson, Perdue, etc) so medium fish, mega fish. Sad really.

Nedbank Namibia funds 20 agri-students at Agra Academy with N$560k, covering tuition and registration. Govt calls agri a key Vision 2030 sector. While corporate support is vital, sustainable, inclusive growth must benefit youth, smallholders, and ecosystems alike.
Nedbank backs agri-education with N$560 000 donation
Nedbank Namibia will sponsor 10 students pursuing a national certificate and another 10 students pursuing a national diploma at the Agra Agricultural Academy with N$560 000. The academy offers students qualifications in plant and animal production, advanced farm management, agricultural extension, and agri-sales and services. The funds will cover each student’s registration and tuition fees. Minister of agriculture, fisheries, water and land reform Inge Zaamwani-Kamwi, delivering a speech on behalf of prime minister Elijah Ngarure at the handover ceremony yesterday, said food sufficiency is one of the key priorities of the government, and support from corporations in the country is needed. She stated that the agricultural sector has been identified as one of the priority areas in Vision 2030 and the five-year National Development Plans. “As a country, we consider the agricultural sector a priority and an enabler that will contribute to our socio-economic development,” said Zaamwani-Kamwi. Nedbank managing director Martha Murorua said the aim of these bursaries is to encourage young people to pursue qualifications in agriculture. “By investing in practical education, we hope to inspire the current and next generation to see agriculture as a vital and rewarding career path. Practical degrees equip students with hands-on experience and real-world skills,” said Murorua. Agra chief executive Arnold Klein said the company has paid out N$61 million in dividends to its shareholders. “Agra has a shareholding of more than 3 800 shareholders [of which] 75% are active farmers in Namibia. This year, we project our profit after tax to grow between 45% and 55%,” said Klein. The post Nedbank backs agri-education with N$560 000 donation appeared first on The Namibian.
