What the United States has done this week is as devastating for the cosy Atlanticist world view, as the Credit Crunch was for those who comfortably believed that left to themselves markets tended towards equilibrium.

In other words: a serious conceptual rupture.

A world view has died this week.

I think the White House badly underestimates the strength of the pan-European folk memory of 1930s appeasement, and how deep it still cuts. I suppose this is what happens when you learn in school that WW2 started in 1941 in Hawaii.

The fact that a man like Farage who praised Putin, made himself Mr Brexit, and campaigned for Trump is considered anything other than a crank is a fairly damning indictment of the political climate in Britain.

Israel is a cruel apartheid state.
LAST NIGHT: Israeli settlers set fire to homes and vehicles and injured Palestinian residents in a Bedouin community near Mukhmas, northeast of Jerusalem, in yet another escalation aimed at ethnically cleansing Palestinians from their land.

This is 100% true. I’ve spent 30 years interviewing Nazis to find out what makes them tick, and they’re all completely submissive to their leaders in a very ‘master-slave’ way
Conservative men want to be dominated by bigger men and nobody will convince me otherwise. Not one to kink shame but it’s definitely a kink.

A big issue with people who look at the US, and elsewhere, and say something along the lines of "it couldn't happen here" is that it very much can, and in some cases is, happening in the UK, especially with discrimination against marginalised groups. Escalation can always occur given circumstances.

One might wonder if this current manufactured crisis, the 'Pee-Pee dossier', the Epstein files, and Putin's apparent hold over Trump are connected?
We now have a full-blown European-American crisis, and for no reason that the president is able to articulate
