Also led to the hilarious choice in ST:D not to just be inconsistent and use the iconic modern Klingon look everyone likes (because the stardates don't line up), but ALSO not use the original look (which tbf is a bit Fu Manchu) and instead invent a weird third Klingon that's blue for some reason

Yep, I've been having lots of fun!

The similarity to this particular comic story, esp. w/the planet-by-planet clue finding, just hit me this morning.

What matters is not originality, but implementation, and ST:D is doing great on that front.

Always got the sense it was the "Trek for people who don't like Trek" show.
Only people I've met who watch it aren't big fans of anything pre-ST:D.

In Jumanji2/Red One it was enough “holy shit”, “bullshit” etc that I was just 🙄

I did say it was _pointless_. I realize Aussies are to profanity as fish are to water, and it doesn’t bother me when it isn’t stupid or distracting.

The cursing in ST:D and Picard was very “look at us being edgelords.”

Yes, I was ambivalent at best seeing him on ST:D

So on ST:D Michelle Yeoh played a noble mentor figure who died heroically in the pilot episodes, and then came back to play her evil mirror universe version who was a tyrant, and then they just kept the character around because Michelle Yeoh is cool and gradually shifted her into an anti-hero role.

Umm, did you think ST:D and Enterprise were "good", too?

Thats an interesting comment about a "different audience", who are they aiming this as? The audience that came with ST:D, doubtful it's SNW, or people who are still lamenting the end of BSG? I'm going to watch it but the reviews so far are not encouraging.

Thanks. I've only seen a few episodes of ST:D and the first season of Picard. The magic is gone for me. May try Picard again for nostalgia. I never really watched after TNG.

Fair

(ST:D isn't too bad imo, but it's nowhere near TNG levels).

I was on Reddit earlier and saw someone refer to it, still, as ST:D.

YOU’RE NOT FUNNY, YOU’RE JUST A PIECE OF SHIT.

I just wanna be a cyborg like the one from ST:D

I dismissed it at first, not the biggest fan of new trek, but watched it with my kiddo and was pleasantly surprised. The voice acting is superb, the story lines are engaging and well thought out, characters have depth and growth, and they don't break canon.

Hilarious that ST:D ripped em off.

ST:D war immer so ein bisschen missglückt aus verschiedenen Gründen, aber ach, die Serie hat trotzdem ihren Platz in meinem Herzen gefunden.

This is then best bit of dialogue in the whole of ST:D

(Or ST:D, for that matter, that'd also be cool. But LD seems to be the grandly unifying show.)

Finished my Star Trek Discovery binge last night. While Season 4 was an improvement, I realize I prefer Trek that’s more ensemble based. While I enjoy the characters, ST:D writing decisions through all 4 seasons frustrate me.

Discovery is such a fucking good show. Watching it again with my gf who's new to it and noticing things I missed before, including an exchange between Saru and Burnham of this quote:

You and Anthony Rapp modeled the very best kind of manhood as our favorite Gay Space Dads on ST:D and I love you both for it.

Me too!!! So many people loved ST:D but my whole family was so disappointed.

Anyway we do enjoy ST:SNW so, thanks for this 😉

Exactly! Her post was not an invitation for people to offer up their personal takes on ST:D, and Claire's not required to be more considerate of Reply Guys who failed to realize that.
