It you transit through Enmax Park, maybe avoid for a little while. Nice, long stretches of bare pavement and then huge ice sections #yycbike

Enmax is ripping us off. The city is sitting on huge profit from that alone.

Just a thought…

Rural customers pay more for electrical distribution, but ATCO customers pay significantly more than others.

Below are the annual distribution costs for a residential customer using 7,200kWh per year:

ATCO = $1,211
Fortis = $591
ENMAX = $389
EPCOR = $388

Absolutely!

So my husband's manager does this. Everyone at Enmax is generally at home on Mondays and Fridays so no need this week, but in the 2.5 years he's been there, his manager has asked people to stay home several times when road conditions have been bad Tues-Thurs.

💡 Summary:

The ENMAX stage on Prince's Island seems like it would be a good place to put solar panels. Maybe it could power the lights on the island.

The city of Calgary has $3B at its disposal.

Citizens ask for: affordable housing support, more greenspace, cycling infrastructure, neighborhood pools & arenas, urban canopy, libraries, lower property taxes.

YYCCC passively (no seats on the BoD) invests that $3B in ENMAX.

Does anyone in #yyc know what will happen with the old Enmax substation one when the replacement is finished and related - how can I obtain the cool tile mosaic of (what I’ve always assumed) is a sine wave on the side? 🤭

Some back of the napkin math (literally) suggest the distribution postage stamps rate impacts will be about:

ATCO - 57% Reduction
Fortis - 14% Reduction
EPCOR and ENMAX - 71% Increase

See comments below for rough assumptions.

Another member thinks the rent increases are linked to energy costs -- Enmax, the city's utility.
Another member doesn't have potable water. But doesn't want to complain because they'll get kicked out.

What kind of BS nonsense is this #Enmax, issuing letter notifying of #criticalchanges to our elec plan on Dec 4th requiring response by Jan 1 or be automatically locked into a #rateoflastresort ??? Postal strike started on Nov 15th, letter arrived yesterday. #corporategames #yyc #Alberta

Check your energy rates, folks. The fixed electrical rate came down a bit at Enmax. NG is still going up a bit, but from what I can glean (and I'm terrible at this), the variable rate is still lower.

I’m obsessed with this project going on down below that started in June I think.
Whatever they are doing is underground so nothing to see but I’m excited today because there is a lot of activity on site. 😄
I wonder when it will wrap up. Flames traffic soon.

And Canada has gotten less socialist over time. There were some government owned things that aren't owned by the government anymore.

Fun fact, here in Calgary our electric company, Enmax, is owned by the city & they collect profits. That's a bit of a weirder one.

I think Enmax is replacing power poles. A couple in the back ally and a line to the pole across 24 street. 8:00 am to 3:00.

Hey #yycBike,
If you’re planning to bike to Stampede this is what the bike parking looks like in Enmax Park.
There’s about 10 racks of miscellaneous sizes and shapes. Bring a good lock as there’s no real security monitoring things.

And if you've ever tried to ask questions from Enmax... you'll know just how little respect they have for the everyday residential customer.
December 14, 2024 at 5:21 PM
Thanks for this @blakeshaffer.bsky.social . I was chatting with Enmax about this today and opted for floating for now... definitely taking a gamble going into winter.

Enmax has a 1.99 cent "transaction fee" on their floating rate... do you know if that fee is regulated?

Another way to stick it to embedded interests in #Alberta is to change your energy provider from #EnMax. #abpoli #ableg

Thank you, @lisa608.bsky.social for getting me onto this list
Note: you don’t need solar to switch and you likely DON’T have a break fee 😎

ENMAX is keeping pace with Calgary’s rapid growth, connecting thousands of new homes and businesses each year while maintaining some of the most reliable electricity service in Canada.

"The ballot initiative has already been outspent 17 to one by the parent companies of the two utilities, Avangrid and Enmax. Together, the two legacy power companies have given $18.4m to three ballot committees, which have spent $16.5m fighting back against what they see as an existential threat."
