🧵 A thread on why "We must fight the information war on Xitter" does not make any sense anymore.

In this thread I will lay out all the many reasons the battlefield is impossible to win. Not because of us, but because of how Xitter works now. How's its designed to fuck us all over.

Since these mouth-breathers are so into international law as a tool to get a pipeline to the coast, I’m sure they’re aware of the ICJ’s decision in Bolivia v. Chile “Obligation to Negotiate Access to the Pacific Ocean” that found Chile has no obligation to grant Bolivia such sovereign access.

3) Why would the US allow you to export your oil to world markets when they have you over a barrel and can extract far more favourable terms for their own refineries?

4) The irony of separatists depending on the UN is *priceless*, but the Law of the Sea doesn't say what they think it does.

I’m in a UN briefing of the Inter-agency Task Force on Financing for Development on the Global Economic Context

Some takeaways:

China (~30%), US (17%) and India (~13%) will account for 60% of world GDP growth

2025 broke the world record in carbon emissions diverting away from the goals set

Which side really has Trump Derangement Syndrome?

Now we learn the billionaire owner of a bridge that will compete w/the new Canada-MI bridge met with Lutnick right before Trump issued his threat to shut down the new bridge. The Trump admin is a lawless mafia gangster extortion racket existing to enrich oligarchs at our expense.

Textbook. If you are surprised, it is because this shit usually, at least not in the last 150 years, does not happen in the US. And the past is mild in comparison

#Carney had to educate ignorant #Trump on reality of the bridge.

Truths:
1. #Canada paid for the bridge.
2. It used US steel and workers as well as Canadian steel and workers.
3. It’s shared ownership with Michigan.

Remind me again who takes advantage in this relationship?

Trump has chosen to create an antagonistic relationship with Canada. Canadians have chosen not to be bullied. What has been interesting for me is how easy it has been for us to pivot toward and foster other allies to fill the void Trump’s policies have created and how long lasting that will be.

This number was a product of the trade agreement, that trump negotiated, that he called the greatest trade deal ever. This administration has broken that agreement so Canada is free to do whatever it wants, which is making trump angry. trump believes he runs Canada.

When your trade doctrine is “they depend on us, so they’d better not disagree,” you’re not practicing diplomacy—you’re practicing economic intimidation against your closest ally.

And like we Canadians have figured out common ground for decades with the US government. It is only the Trump Regime that thinks we haven’t been able to work with the US and constantly lies about us.
Greer: "The thing to keep in mind with Canada is this is a country that's 75% dependent on the United States for its gross domestic product ... it can't be a situation where the Canadians have an antagonistic relationship"

Yeah, just keep threatening us here in Canada. It seems to be working out so well for you all. Seriously, don’t open the bridge. It hurts your working class workers just as much as ours. Harm your own people to “own the Libs.” We here in Canada will take a hit for our honour.
America is learning the hard way that "we make a lot of money together, you benefit from trade with us" does not actually equal "we own you and you must be subservient," and that countries will forgo some money to preserve sovereignty.

Today's corrupt, self-interested US leaders don't get that.

Canada will not bend the knee.

Americans like to think of us as their pet or as a little sister they can bully. A joke.

They don’t seem to be laughing now. Now it’s threats and “be respectful”.

Fuck all the way off.
