DDOT alerted us that a Ward 3 resident threatened to call ICE on a crew installing a sidewalk on MacArthur Blvd NW.

Some good news 📰: The City of Detroit may grant permission to close adjacent streets but no closure of Harper or Beaubien are expected for this project.

There's no "ton of traffic" there now but DDOT increases have been requested upon completion.

USDOT Secretary Duffy showing off a Corvette outside of USDOT HQ, and I’m pleased that he has to step over a DDOT-installed protected bikelane to do it. www.linkedin.com/posts/usdot_...

I am an elected official along this corridor. There is only 1 crossing. Multiple other intersections lack physical protection, and DDOT has steadfastly ignored our resolutions requesting physical protection (i.e. bollards, planters) be installed to prevent the cars from entering the trail.

Ddot doing more to address trail user speeding than most agencies do about car driver speeding
"the agency’s in-house research team, is piloting two speed feedback signs at high-congestion points on the MBT"

DDOT saw >5,000 users/day in October, and "that one out of five of those users travelled more than 15 miles per hour during that period" aashtojournal.transportation.org/ddot-starts-...

A safety fix is finally on the way at 3rd & H NW, thanks to advocacy by the Mount Vernon Triangle CID & neighbors.

CM Allen has been pushing DDOT to make this connection to Cobb Park safer, and this winter, the long-missing crosswalk will finally be installed!

When it comes to using Vision Zero principles to reduce roadway fatalities, we've seen great progress:
➡️25 fatalities YTD - 50% fewer than 2024
➡️1 less than when DC launched Vision Zero in 2014
➡️Lots of work by MPD, DDOT, DPW & others in making that happen
Lots going on, but good to check on our progress improving public safety YTD:
• Violent crime ⬇️ 28%
• Homicides ⬇️ 30%
📌 50% drop since 2023
• Robbery ⬇️ 37%
• Assault w/deadly weapon ⬇️ 10%
• Burglary ⬇️ 30%
• Car theft ⬇️ 22%
• Roadway fatalities ⬇️ 50%

Noticed this last night and…why?!?

DOEE, DDOT Urban Forestry, and DGS need to…have a talk…about the latter's heavy-handed salting practices in general, but when there isn't even precipitation in the forecast for 48 hours…?!

Most will just end up in our sewers (or lungs) long before it snows…
OMFG!!! Why have the morons at DGS treated the sidewalks around city properties?!?! And not just a light sprinkle either. You could refloat the Titanic with the amount of shit on some of these sidewalks 🤬🤬

In subsequent visits after 2016, when it finally opened, I was never able to take a ride on it for various reasons. It was a depressing shock when DDOT announced earlier this year that, like the rest of the city government, they were giving up.

But I made it with time to spare.

🚍Everyone deserves access to safe, reliable transportation and DDOT delivers.🙌✨
Detroit’s Paratransit program gives riders like Lesley Huling their independence. ♿️
We're proud to share his story and highlight how this service keeps our community moving. 💛🌆

Why is it we have to go through YEARS of fighting, planning, begging (like I did just last night at UDC) only to have @ddotdc.bsky.social capriciously abandon their commitments? Again and again and again, DDOT fails to deliver on its mission. @cmlewisgeorgew4.bsky.social

The bare minimum! Biking here sucks, would sure suck less if DDOT put in PBLs!
December 11, 2025 at 5:06 AM
So glad DDOT provided activities for kids at tonight's meeting. I didn't bring my kid because it's not a safe place to bike to, but I appreciate the thought.

Quarterly #TakomaPark adjacent check: still a worng @DDOTDC.twitter.com street name sign at Carroll and Eastern. (It's either "Carroll AVE 6900" or "Carroll ST NW 100" but not "Carroll AVE NW 6900.")

DDOT closed ticket 23-00212598; this may be a check until I die.

OMG the whining about it taking two years?! Like Bro they have to build a deck that can support people and trucks and not collapse on what's underneath? 2 years is record time for DDOT on something like that. Also complain about things suck, don't want to allow time to build things that don't suck.
December 10, 2025 at 5:46 PM
DDOT be like uuuuuuhhhhhhhhh gotta repave 11th NW
December 10, 2025 at 2:52 PM
We also do tailsampling with traces. It needs OTel end to end. DD agent doesn't work for that (can only export to Datadog). So straight to DDOT.

GGWash is suing to force DDOT to release a congestion pricing study. We need to see more of this, of people using the courts to make DC's executive agencies follow the law. The Bowser administration's been particularly bad about ignoring laws.
Interesting: Urbanist group @ggwash.org is suing @ddotdc.bsky.social over its refusal/failure to release a study the city conducted on congestion pricing possibilities in downtown D.C. The study was finished in 2020, but has never been made public – even in response to FOIA requests.
December 9, 2025 at 11:51 PM
Had you come from the DD agent beforehand, given that supports OTLP too. Or did you jump straight into DDOT?
December 9, 2025 at 9:48 PM
it's hard to keep doing engaging with DDOT public outreach in good faith when we can be 99% finalized on a project only to lose ground when some nimby finally notices and starts throwing a fit
December 9, 2025 at 8:17 PM
Trying to make a list of all the bike projects that DDOT planned and then seriously watered down over the last year or two...

--CT Ave (obviously)
--KS Ave (described below)
--11th street NW
--K Street NW transitway

not to mention downgrading AZ ave which was already protected but isn't anymore
The people who complained about this project insist that the median is needed to prevent car collisions. Ironic that they so fervently believe a structural barrier is safer than paint… #bikedc
DDOT has changed the design plan for the protected bike lanes on Kansas Ave NW (which have already been under construction) to eliminate the structural protection, and add more paint.
