Wild to me that Christopher Nolan is not only making remake of O Brother Where Art Thou, but he decided to change the setting to ancient greece for some reason?!

I think it's time for the Council to consider a second expulsion vote for Councilmember White. I'm sure they were hoping to avoid it with a quick trial but another seven months is too long for him to be on the council when there's extremely credible evidence that he is corrupt.
NEWS: Ward 8 Councilmember Trayon White’s trial on federal bribery charges has been delayed to September 14. It was supposed to start on March 24, but a judge said an “unforced error” by prosecutors on turning over documents led him to support pushing back the date as White’s attorney requested.

I took @bikeshare.bsky.social yesterday for the first time since the storm and it was a pretty frustrating and difficult experience. Many bikes are impossible to check out and many open docks are too full of ice to dock back into them.
Lyft is responsible for clearing snow from Citi Bike's infrastructure, according to its contract with the city. A city official said they were stunned that Lyft was doing such a bad job.

This makes sense because if there's one thing @mayorbowser.dc.gov loves more than cars speeding through downtown, it's collaborating with the trump administration
On the possibility of an IndyCar race around the National Mall this summer, which President Trump is pushing for, @mayorbowser.dc.gov says she's excited.

"We absolutely love it," she says. There are a lot of race fans… it could attract a lot of visitors to the District, which is a good thing."

This seems to just be yet another example of nimbys saying "there's not enough affordable housing" when really they just don't want anything new built at all.

No amount of affordable housing will ever satisfy them, because they don't actually want affordable housing
For years residents in the expensive (and very white) neighborhood of Chevy Chase have been fighting over whether housing should be built on top of a library that needs to be renovated. Now they seem to have united against @mayorbowser.dc.gov's plan to do so: 51st.news/chevy-chase-...

Wow, a little slice of the Big Apple right here in DC! (Parked in a space that used to a streatery for what it's worth)

The streateries disappear on 18th street -- a series of photos taken about 5 weeks apart. Where there was once room for 20 or so people to eat, now there's room for just a single car to park.

Interesting that they're not promoting this as a way to avoid driving drunk, which is why these programs got started. But I'm all in favor of trying to get people out of rideshares!

NEWS: At-Large Councilmember Kenyan McDuffie says he will be resigning from the D.C. Council on January 5, 2026. That's in preparation for his run for mayor, since he will be changing his party affiliation to Democrat and he's currently in an At-Large seat reserved for non-Democrats.

So glad we tore down the Adams Morgan streateries so we have plenty of space for this guy who owes $2,200 in unpaid tickets so he can park directly in front of tryst!!!

Do we think Kenyan McDuffie's campaign graphics will use green as their primary color? I'm guessing yes

Trying to make a list of all the bike projects that DDOT planned and then seriously watered down over the last year or two...

--CT Ave (obviously)
--KS Ave (described below)
--11th street NW
--K Street NW transitway

not to mention downgrading AZ ave which was already protected but isn't anymore
The people who complained about this project insist that the median is needed to prevent car collisions. Ironic that they so fervently believe a structural barrier is safer than paint… #bikedc
DDOT has changed the design plan for the protected bike lanes on Kansas Ave NW (which have already been under construction) to eliminate the structural protection, and add more paint.

Important bike event coming up this week! The Ward 3 DDOT strategic bike network meeting is on Wednesday from 6pm to 8pm at UDC in Van Ness

Good opportunity to tell DDOT to bring back plans for the CT Ave bike lane as well as share other thoughts about where we need a bike network in ward 3

Streateries continue to come down on 18th street.

Soon we'll have space for a handful more people to park, and all we had to give up was space where hundreds of people could eat a meal!

December 3 update: All the concrete barriers are now gone and crews have started removing the streateries themselves. New "paid parking here" signs are going up as well.

As a reminder, DDOT director Sharon Kershbaum promised last month that this wouldn't happen until January at the earliest.

Adams Morgan streatery update: As far as I can tell no more concrete barriers were removed today (as of about 9:30pm) but new signs have gone up indicated that metered parking is going to be allowed soon. I can confirm that both of these signs are new.

Adams Morgan streatery update -- about 2/3 of the concrete barriers have been removed, starting from the southern end of the corridor. No doubt the rest will be removed tonight.

Relatedly, the Council is voting *today* on emergency legislation to try to save the streateries.
December 2, 2025 at 6:35 PM
DDOT is removing the concrete barriers around Adams Morgan streateries TONIGHT. Right now. Next they'll remove the streateries themselves.

As a reminder, just a few weeks ago, DDOT director Sharon Kershbaum promised that they wouldn't start removing them until January 2026.
