Common response I get when bike lanes or public transportation is brought up: “we’re not NYC! we’re not Amsterdam!”
It’s so stupid. It’s the one thing I dislike about my city. The people here can’t even imagine a different future.
I truly believe cars make people lazy. Mentally and physically.

I think LA has always just conceived of itself differently (and as self-consciously not a place like NYC or Chicago). A lot of LA progressives seem to hold to the idea that progress means a society that’s sufficiently equal that everyone can afford a SFH and a car, a nonsensical idea in say NYC.

Immediately after posting a transit complaint I see this post and it’s like a salve. Public transit is connections in every sense of the word.

Effective drainage systems are an underrated, important component of making truly walkable, human-oriented cities. It’s hard to convince people to live than non-driver lifestyle when nearly every rainfall includes ankle-deep puddles #urbanism+ #LA

Whenever it rains in LA, I always think about the “Emerald Necklace Vision Plan”, which, if implemented, would result in expanded parks and green space along several waterways in the area.

Heads up to my LA Metro homies: B and D Lines are currently single tracked between Westlake/MacArthur Park and Union Station. LAFD are on the platform at Westlake seemingly trying to get into the track tunnel space? (That’s all conjecture, to be clear)

Still my favorite shot from the day. There was only one place with enough space to guarantee a glimpse of LA's winning team: the freeway overpasses. Or, for a handful of fans who bravely scurried down a slope of spiky century plants, the freeway itself.
