it feels like a minor miracle that Newsom didn't show up in this somehow

Must read on MAGA, how it's held together by a cult of personality, and how nihilism, tech bros and/or Trump's needing to survive Epstein threat could push things further right.
@gregsargent.bsky.social interviews @pastpunditry.bsky.social, historian specializing in conservatism of last 75 years.
Really unnerving point from Nicole Hemmer, historian of the right: Trump's Epstein fiasco could drive MAGA to push him to go even fuller authoritarian, because the whole project is now in such serious doubt. She's so good on MAGA's future.

Epstein sent himself a list of names days before his arrest. Many of them are confirmed clients or implied ones.

Guess who is on the list:

I attended a meeting yesterday and it reminded me that every single organizer needs to get training on how to facilitate meetings. Truly. You lose more people through terrible meeting facilitation than I can express.

We've been watching this thing get built (Natural History Museum and Science Center is right next door) for the past few years and are super stoked. One of the nice things about LA swimming in Hollywood cash is shit like this popping up.
After years of delays, the Lucas Museum of Narrative Art announced its 2026 opening date. Take a first look inside the $1 billion, 300,000-square-foot museum.

Bovino is confessing in advance that he will increase his crimes and violations against Constitutional rights by a thousand.

He should spend the rest of his life in prison after he goes bankrupt paying legal fees.

I hope someone in IL is filing paperwork for injunctions right tf now

Obvsl evil, tyrannical, lying Horseshit from Bovino, but also: didn't realize this guy had such a reedy, nasally, whiny little voice.
Bovino: "Whether they were criminals or individuals that were taking jobs from Americans -- you name it, that's what they were doing. And I'll tell you what's gonna happen. We're gonna go even harder on the streets. If he releases those 650, we're gonna apprehend 1,650 on the streets of Chicago."

Even if it were true, "taking jobs from Americans" is not a criminal offense that calls for committing human right abuses against said person and potentially renditioning them to third countries with poor human rights records

"This person is undocumented" does not mean "this person has ZERO rights"

Some informal science advising here:

Epstein: i liked the argument that more co2 is good for plants?

Krauss: My goodness. So you are listening to an old Nobel laureate whose expertise has nothing to do with this, who has never studied this
in detail, built models, done experiments....

Epstein: I m here with the trump peopl in palm and when asked i say i dont have any idea if this global warming is a threat that can be reduced

Krauss [on Freeman Dyson]: He has cherry picked data, the typical act of those who believe the answer before they ask the question.

There's not really a professional way for me to say this, but Epstein was clearly very dumb and it is remarkable that someone like Krauss was willing to put up with him.

Chomsky replies with a nuanced message about the perils of secular dogma.

Epstein: I think religion plays a major positive role in many lives. . i dont like fanaticism on either side. . sorry

Krauss: Ps. My piece argued against fanaticism.

In 2023, Chomsky told WSJ about his relationship with Epstein: “First response is that it is none of your business. Or anyone’s. Second is that I knew him and we met occasionally.”

Epstein: you are of course welcome to use apt in new york with your new leisure time, or visit new Mexico again
