I’m old enough to remember when CBS News would never have surrendered to a demagogic president or any other politician. Remember Edward R. Murrow?

McGovern: Buried in this bill is a corrupt kickback for eight Republican senators, a million dollar payday funded by taxpayers, taken from the treasury and deposited directly into their pockets. What the hell is wrong with this place?

The president of the United States thinks asylum-seekers come from mental asylums.

He says it in almost every interview where the topic of migration comes up.

How is this not 25th Amendment territory? How is he not an embarrassment to this entire country?

I do not believe there is such a thing as a book that can somehow damage you by reading it too early. I reject the premise. worst case scenario you pick up ayn rand by mistake and become a proper wanker for a while, but the cure for that is actually more reading

Angela Lansbury explained it best.
My favorite scene from The Manchurian Candidate brilliantly explains why liars like Trump don’t care about the wild numbers they fabricate. This was the basis of McCarthyism in a nutshell:

If you haven't seen it yet, you can make up a completely fake proverb and as long as it SOUNDS like a proverb, Google will now create an origin for it.

can’t remember where I saw it but someone realized you could get google’s AI to hallucinate elaborate explanations for fake proverbs by just typing them into search and i just checked and google still hasn’t fixed it and now i can’t stop doing it

If a foreign adversary snuck into our Federal budget and cut science research and education the way we’re cutting it ourselves — strategically undermining America’s long-term health, wealth, and security — we would likely consider it an act of war.
