What's from Chicago, hates Illinois Nazis, and is holy as fuck?

It's the Pope in 1982.

I found this piece sad too, but mostly because it is part of a years-long effort by progressives to understand what "really" animates Trump voters.

We already know! It is racism, misogyny and misinformation. I know that sounds condescending or whatever but it's simply what all evidence suggests.

PSA: if you ever need a meal and can't afford one and don't want to jump through these hoops, fund a gurdwara. They are obligated to feed you for free with no strings attached
They're all charlatans. On one occasion I visited a soup kitchen in Albuquerque mini years ago because I was in need. The requirement to enter the food line was to get knee bound and accept Jesus into your heart. I very politely refused to do so, and they told me I should find someplace else to eat.

I wish media would get away from this narrative that the Trump admin are playing some sort of grand chess game. They aren’t. They are toddlers smashing the chessboard with their fists while their parents (media) coo “ooh, he didn’t smear it with shit this time, what a clever boy!”

What Klein is saying (in a perfectly overproduced video) is that he does not give a shit about anything. Nothing "means" anything. Politics is just a content trigger to write a column. Because he's reached a level of wealth and comfort where everything is just abstract fun. Like a board game.
"Much of what I would describe as Kirk's worst moments were now just standard fair MAGA Republicanism. And the leader of MAGA Republicanism is the President of the United States...we are going to have to live here with each other believing what we believe. Disagreeing in the ways we disagree."

'The Rise of Manga should terrify the US comics Industry' is a sentiment that always feels a bit like going 'The Rise Of China should terrify the US'.

Entitled worldview that presumes American-everything gotta be forever On Top, and sees any Asian success as a 'terrifying' existential threat.
I'm thinking of this recent piece. www.comicsbeat.com/the-story-th...
I disagree with the premise, that the rise of manga should terrify the US comics industry it's unprepared to create new hits/scout new talent. It covers a lot of ground.
9-post thread, beloved. Thinking out loud. 🧵
with peace and love, I'm pretty deeply invested in American comics and Japanese comics both, and I'm not sure that pitting them against each other has ever been the answer. I'm still developing a strong take, but it feels like asking if Cinnamon Toast Crunch is beating cheeseburgers in the polls.

Worth remembering that Terence Stamp was the son of a ship's stoker.

Stamp desperately wanted to act, after falling in love with movies as a kid, and it was a scholarship to Drama School that allowed him to walk that path.

Every time arts cuts are made, they rob us of more Terence Stamps.
