Capturing the cultural zeitgeist and trends for the year ahead is a tricky business. But every year, the Pantone Color Institute chooses a color to do precisely that. And it has settled on a shade of white, “Cloud Dancer,” as its Color of the Year for 2026. https://cnn.it/3MipgCr

The average SNAP benefit per month is $177 a person.

The average ACA benefit per month is up to $550 a person.

People want us to hold the line for a reason. This is not a matter of appealing to a base. It’s about people’s lives.

And working people want leaders whose word means something to them.

if people’s kids are going hungry and it turns out the money for it went to the gold ballroom and they’re refusing to pay up because they can’t, I think one very particular category of French antiques will be coming back in fashion right quick if you know what I mean
Ain’t no way they would be fighting THIS hard to *not* pay out everyone’s SNAP if they truly had it on hand.

Sometimes you read an article that makes you feel like... idk... 15 years ago, some of us got on an express train and saw what was on the tracks ahead. And now we're on a call to the people on the slower train, now approaching, and they cannot comprehend the landscapes we describe as familiar.

In any sane world this would be the end of Gavin Newsom as a serious democratic politician. We of course do not live in that kind of world
The best way to honor Charlie's memory is to continue his work: engage with each other, across ideology, through spirited discourse. In a democracy, ideas are tested through words and good-faith debate — never through violence.

Oh, hey.

Visa and Mastercard now say you can't pay for WoW. Magic the Gathering. FFXIV. DnD. Lord of the Rings. Because they're all "adult" content against their ToS just for being "fantasy".

Let that sink in.

Spread this like wildfire and have people in those circles call them. No quarter.
Woke up to quite the update on this. I had been in contact with Payment Cloud about getting their service and they waited until now to hit me with the image below. Again, stringing me along instead of being upfront. They had seen my website multiple times before this.

this is such an important secondary message

1. trans kids get to see their idol using her platform to celebrate and advocate for them

2. cis kids see their idol declaring that the presence of trans people makes your life better and cooler and more joyful and that that's a world worth fighting for
Secondarily but also importantly, the kids AROUND those little trans kids *also* saw her get on a stage and do that, and it’s going to influence how they see the trans kids around them. It a world where every 4th famous person is saying they’re not important at best and evil at worst, it matters.

this is a perfect answer. my current tolerance for “queer suffering” in media - as in specifically suffering BECAUSE you are queer - is close to zero. I’m just not available to it right now. that’s totally different from putting an ensemble which features queer characters into a Situation
I'm not sure how to answer because my characters go through challenges but it's inter-dimensional space monsters and evil sorceresses and such most of the time. So it's not "queer suffering" it's "things happen to people who happen to be queer"

but a lot of their joy IS connected to their queerness
On the subject of queer joy & queer suffering in fiction, I think of it as a spectrum, and each writer and each reader has a comfort zone on that spectrum, for whatever reason.

My sweet spot as an author is about 70% joy and 30% suffering, give or take 20% for either.

What’s yours?
