the 1968 teachers union strike (longest in nyc history), which was essentially (emphasis on essentially) over desegregation efforts, impacts black-jewish relations to this day. if you really squint, you can see shades of the present in that moment
I'd say demography is a big part of it! it's a lot easier to pretend to not be racist if you live in a place where you never have to encounter anyone that doesn't look like you! you should have seen the absolute racist nonsense that ensued when NYC tried to desegregate upper west side schools!

It’s like believing a military recruiter.
For one…i don’t trust anything that administration says. 50k signing bonus for joining ICE sounds unbelievable. This administration lies constantly and is notoriously stingy when it comes to helping regular citizens.
