i bet the attending who always likes to stump trainees with “what could cause a NEGATIVE anion gap?” was feeling pretty fuckin’ good about themselves when they solved this case
This is just nuts. A person showed up with bromism, a condition that was probably last seen in the early 80s, because a chatbot suggested bromide salt as an alternative to table salt.

My patients live at the margins of society. They don’t have much. Just getting to dialysis three times a week is a big ask. Taking from them to fund tax breaks for the rich is just cruel.
