"you can't please everyone" is passive, an excuse, loaded with shame and regret. instead, be proactive in your work and aim to piss off at least 40% of its audience

While they are trying to shove the most unnecessary tech slop down my throat, I’ve instead been finding joy in this simple tools. A paper cutter with a perforating blade and stickers used for scratch- offs. Making some “lottery ticket” prints.

I appreciate Vancouver Game Expo's method of keeping the aisles clear of crowd pileups by having someone in a gigantic amongus costume walk through every so often and smush everyone out of the central corridor

last week i remembered that macOS lets you set your own icons and that *I* have the power to delegitimize the professionalism of the software that runs on my machine, so here's a thread of the 16 new icons i've made so far

i really forgot how fun it was to just sit down and make art for myself :')

i've been thinking about this again after seeing some anti-options posting (players will ruin their experience with savestates / difficulty settings / credit feeding etc.) and to be a bit pretentious, i feel like part of "game literacy" is learning how and when options like that will benefit you
i generally think it's a good thing for a game to be book-like, in the sense that you can flip to any "page" (game state) relatively unimpeded, which i feel is a more radical position on difficulty than "dark souls should have easy mode"

The upside of solo/small team dev is that *theoretically* you're more agile, downside is that when life interferes all progress kinda unavoidably grinds to a halt.
