I LOVE(D) TEEN VOGUE. More corporate obeyance in advance.
Teen Vogue is getting folded into Vogue and losing most of its staff. It’s the end of one of the only publications that allowed young people to share their own stories and took them seriously as political actors.

How I look at people that don't vote today

Hello from Time-change-with-loud-birds land! Only four months of standard time here in the (far-ish) north US.

STANDARD time is what you want. Yes, it would be nice to have daylight after work. Just like it would be nice to only eat pasta alfredo and chocolate for every meal.
Hello from Time-change-with-a-toddler Land!

THE SCIENCE SUGGESTS THAT YEAR ROUND STANDARD TIME IS BEST.

I know it’s the least of our worries right now, but let’s get some data driven policy going and end this hellscape of twice a year time change.

Study suggests most Americans would be healthier without daylight saving time
According to a new analysis by Stanford Medicine scientists, changing clocks twice a year disrupts circadian rhythms, leading to higher rates of stroke and obesity.

Funny that. Bad actors are taking advantage of bad actors to kidnap and assault random people.
New: The FBI is quietly urging ICE agents to properly ID themselves in the field.

In a bulletin to law enforcement last month, it warned of criminals posing as ICE to rob, rape, kidnap—a problem it says now demands national coordination to confront.

FBI Warns of Criminals Posing as ICE, Urges Agents to ID Themselves
In a bulletin to law enforcement agencies, the FBI said criminal impersonators are exploiting ICE’s image and urged nationwide coordination to distinguish real operations from fakes.

New, w/ @mulchy.bsky.social & @djbyrnes1.bsky.social:

ICE shot & killed an immigrant in the Chicago suburbs yesterday.

Then they immediately gave a misleading account of events.

Chicago erupted in chaos and a father who lived here for decades is dead. This is what really happened:
What happened to Silverio Villegas-Gonzalez
Immigration agents shot and killed an unarmed 38-year-old father outside Chicago on Friday—and their initial narrative of events was quickly disproven by videos captured by witnesses.

This has been my experience.
The other thing that's interesting is people who have quit target say they're buying less overall. Like yeah Costco is getting some of the traffic, but you don't really pop into Costco to just get one thing and walk out with 20 items the way ppl said they did with Target
The funny thing is Target really thought they were special and irreplaceable in people’s lives and this has been a tough lesson for them.
April 14, 2025 at 8:53 PM
It's true. Those Costco lines are insane now.

I only go to the Baby Target for one prescription, and then walk out.
on my knees begging Target to reinstate the DEI policies. please. Costco is too crowded now 😭

Exactly. The moment you cross him, it's you, and/or your loved ones, on a plane to El Salvador. Pam Bondi won't even bother to comment publicly. They'll deny it happened.
To republican members of Congress (and other Republicans): you realize this includes you, right?

You know why Republican politicians stay silent while Trump tells an outrageous lie about Ukraine starting the war with Russia? Because Republican politicians – at every level of government – are traitors to democracy.
Trump has fully turned on Zelenskyy: "He's always looking to purchase missiles. Listen, when you start a war, you gotta know you can win a war. You don't start a war against somebody that's 20 times your size and then hope that people give you some missiles."

This. Right in the video. Then the laughter.

Any snippet from today's press conference - and the fact the AP was barred from the press pool despite a court order - confirms that Trump and this administration have assumed full Authoritarian Dictator mode.

Your move, Congressional Republicans.
When he says “home-growns”, he’s talking about US citizens. He wants Bukeke to build more torture prisons in El Salvador for Americans. Not me saying it, Trump saying it. bsky.app/profile/atru...
Trump to Bukele: "Home-growns are next. The home-growns. You gotta build about five more places. It's not big enough."

3 days ago RFK Jr. told the CDC to stop recommending water fluoridation, claiming it was a neurotoxin (this is a lie).

Turns out he also just eliminated the CDC’s entire Lead Program, and now lead poisoned children in Milwaukee are just on their own. Lead IS a neurotoxin and harms brain development

The CDC rejected a request for help "due to the complete loss" of their lead poisoning experts.

So this makes complete sense.

It's always worth watching John Lithgow. It's especially worth watching it now.

March on Saturday, April 5th. Flood the zone. Dominate the conversation. There are more of us than of them.
Here is my best guidance for action, rendered beautifully by the great John Lithgow. I first published these lessons more than eight years ago, in late 2016. They open the twenty chapters of "On Tyranny: Twenty Lessons from the Twentieth Century."
