This is from Autocracy, Inc, about how modern autocratic propaganda works.

I consider this every time I decide what to share and how to frame it.

Good morning and happy Thursday to everyone. Funny how mainstream media isn’t asking El Jefe de Covfefe why he’s had an MRI, two 'annual' checkups, multiple dementia screening tests, drooping face, swollen ankles, bruised hands, a mysterious week off, and now looks utterly lost on camera. 🙃

Raise your hand if you instinctively knew the MSM was going to drastically undercount the No Kings turnout.

It was 12 million. Not seven.

This is why the official numbers of how many participated in the No Kings rallies are a serious underestimate of the actual numbers - there were thousands of little events like this all over the country in places that had never had one before and thus were not counted.
Yep, we've seen the massive #NoKings rallies, with tens of thousands gathered in big cities across the country.

But y'all look at this small protest of 11 people in the small, small town of Kosciusko, Mississppi.

That's democracy, too.

There was an incredible turnout across small-town USA! Many events weren’t even on our radar. Our coalition initially tracked around 3,000 events, but the number has now surged past 4,000 and counting.

For nine months, there has rarely been a day when I was proud to be an American.

Today changed everything. Participating and witnessing the courage and determination of millions of America-loving patriots is the hope we needed to persevere and survive the chaos and cruelty of fascism.

This is a key point: We need to recognize how dangerous, how precarious this moment is - but without perpetuating the Trumpists' assertions of strength and dominance.

The gap between their authoritarian aspirations and the reality of American society remains vast. That's where the counter happens.
Trump/MAGA have baited media into inflating Kirk into a world historical martyr, thus exaggerating the cultural pull of Trumpism. The reality: It's Trump's authoritarian abuses that are provoking a massive cultural and societal backlash.

Hear this everyone? You know what to do. No parks, no cruises, no subscriptions, goodby to this Mickey Mouse.
Heard from a friend at Disney+ that there are multiple levels of freakout internally, both from internal dissatisfaction, concerns about subscription cancelations, and of course the big one: concern about a boycott spilling over into parks and cruises.

Very accurate. This is similar to Klein's abundance theory, that Democrats path to revival depends on restoring the ability to "get things done." It's fundamentally silly - you can't add a new kitchen to a house that's on fire.
The key problem with what Ezra Klein says here is that he fails – or is unwilling – to grapple with the fundamental reality of the political conflict: The movement that dominates today’s Right fully rejects the very idea of “living here with each other” as equals. That’s their defining position.
"All I can say for me in the work I do is that I want to create a space that takes our disagreements seriously, that takes the stakes of them seriously, the consequences for people seriously, but does so without deepening our divisions irreparably. We are going to have to live here with each other"
