Hard to know the exact details at this point but this sounds like the result of permitting ICE to do collateral arrests again; they found their target and then demanded the papers of everyone else at the location and refused to believe the US citizen (who was likely Latino) was a US citizen.

I watch people with less training or technical knowledge be more morally correct about a topic often, a lot of policy comes down to principles and all the rote education in the world can’t replace that

You know what's ableism? Acting like a person with any kind of disabilities can't write a book or story without having a robot's 'help'. Implying that we, by virtue of our disabilities, are incapable of creating on our own. You know what helps *me* write? my fucking medication.
