We could have avoided the entire 2014 refugee crisis and 3 quarters of the Syrian civil war if we had followed the French lead, who wanted to kill Assad in 2014. If the mullahs are allowed to engage in another mass slaughter, there will be another refugee crisis, possibly another civil war.

Not true. The Armenian Genocide had far more influence on those who carried out the holocaust than Jim Crow laws in the U.S South. Some Nazis had literally witnessed the Armenian Genocide as German liaison officers in the Ottoman Empire, and saw it as a template.
One reason the comparison to Nazis falls short -- the Nazi Party modeled their policies on the Jim Crow American South, even deciding that some of the anti-Black laws went too far. So, comparing white supremacist fascism in the US to the Nazis is to pretend that we didn't do it first.

I don't think there are any diplomatic efforts Europe could do now to stop this. Even if there is a ceasefire, the Iranian regime will definitely try to get the bomb now. Besides, since Iranian missiles and drones started killing Ukrainians, no one in Europe wants to talk to Iran any more.
