I'm not sure it's in the self interest of America's tech bro billionaires to suggest that we bring back public executions to punish the most destructive people in our society.
A Palantir billionaire just called for public hangings.

“It's time to bring back masculine leadership to protect our most vulnerable,” writes Joe Lonsdale.

This is where Silicon Valley authoritarianism is heading:

There is a direct correlation between how fake your job is and how much value you see in AI
A study by Dayforce shows 87% of executives use AI for work, compared to 57% of managers and just 27% of employees.

I think this explains the massive disconnect we see in how CEOs talk about AI versus everyone else. It also raises the question of how useful it truly is for frontline work?
Execs are embracing AI more than their employees are, new research suggests
Research from HR software company Dayforce suggests that executives are leaning into AI far more than their employees.

This is . . . off-putting. There's nothing here that projects the gravity of the situation or what's at stake. Quite the contrary. This conveys the message that it's all an exciting reality show with no real consequences for anyone. The imagery is just all wrong.
What a week and it’s only Tuesday. See me on Jimmy Kimmel tonight to talk all about it.

I don’t think it’s impossible that Netflix is leaving money on the table. I do think it’s impossible that they don’t have a whole team of people looking at the relative financial merits of theater revenue vs subscriptions and whether it helps their long-term position.
I can't get over studios having a successful, original *ensemble mystery* franchise on their hands and not caring about making more money off of it. It's not even a question of getting distracted by AI bullshit, it's a six-year-old series!
For that matter, giving this and Wake Up Dead Man actual wide releases, when I saw this in theaters the three days Netflix allowed it to play, the screening was packed.

If you’re a mac user and have $5 to spend for some whimsey you really should pick up Festivas. Having the holiday lights of your preference (I finally turned off the pumpkins last week) is great and now you can make your screen snow.

This is such a strange sort of headline. Wait, 18 hours of tv costs as much as a feature film? Well, okay. The details in the article are neat but what are we supposed to take away from this phrasing?

I’ve been saying this for ages: These folks are doomed to be permanently angry because they’re angry about aspects of the culture that policy ultimately can’t change. They’re seeking political power as a consolation prize for lack of cultural power, and will always be dissatisfied.
I think this prediction is holding up pretty well, and maybe I should have noted the failure of the Turn Charlie Kirk Into A Martyr moment might have been the pinnacle of the phenomenon. In some deep way I think the New Right Loser Men fail to understand what state power can and can't do for them.

To me she’ll always be Ketanji Brown, even if her opinions are signed with the last name of Jackson.

Apparently Bezos graduated from our high school five or six years earlier but there were only three grades so we never overlapped with him.
Who was in your high school graduating class, +/- two years, that would be of interest?

For example, I took a basketball class and graduated w/all-time 8th man Jud Buechler (look it up), and may have followed Stephanie Seymour (not sure if she still WENT to school after I moved there).

Don’t forget “To deliver email to three providers”
Remember when we had a decentralised Internet, that routed around failure points, rather than one where everything is piped through one of like, three middleware services and then one of two data hosts?

That was pretty natty, we should look at that again, maybe?
