Lot of jokes about the Epstein files' shitty redaction job, etc.

But a sobering inclusion in the most recent batch includes this chilling allegation of infanticide as part of the sex trafficking:

i say this with nothing but love for all of you to whom this applies, but the moral rot in elite journalism is because journalism is a trade and it should be done by tradespeople and instead it's been professionalized in a way that makes it cozy to capital instead

Bari’s complaint was “there’s nothing new here” and while that’s untrue it’s also irrelevant

“we intentionally sent people to be tortured in a hellhole and bragged about it and The Hague is too good for everyone involved” is a story that simply cannot be told enough

All of these bootlegged copies of the 60 Minutes segment flooding my feed (saying, ‘Watch it quick! Before it disappears!’) makes me feel like I’m in the Soviet Union and just got some black market foreign newspaper I need to hide under a floorboard in my house.

At the risk of being Bluesky crucified - it is objectively a bad thing that AI is being made into a wholly partisan issue, which progressives seem determined to be on the wrong side of.

I suspect this is correct.

They want to show this off. She is a chaos prop who is there specifically to degrade overall reporting.
the thing is I actually don't 100% buy that this admin spiked this story

they're all giddy over the fact that they're sending "criminals" to be tortured in a gulag so why would they spike this? they don't think there's anything wrong with this.

I think Weiss just preemptively did it
You gotta sometimes put out stuff that makes the regime look bad in order to launder the false truths that make them look good. Weiss is not a journalist nor is she even effective at doing propaganda. Lame horse to bet on.

This is madness. Freezing offshore wind projects in progress will waste money, cost jobs, make electricity less reliable and more expensive, and will cause health harms given that fossil fuels will be used instead.

Interior pauses construction of all offshore wind projects, citing national security concerns
The halts of five projects is a major ramp up of the administration's hostility toward the industry in the United States.

Bari Weiss this morning on the 60 Minutes segment: "We need to be able to get the principals on the record and on camera."

Of course, most journalists know that oftentimes people who are the subject of negative reporting don't want to speak on camera or on the record.

not that the present economic picture is rosy, but i do think that popular culture — and specifically nostalgia bait television — is a big part of the reason that our public memory of the 1970s, 1980s and even 1990s seems to miss the real economic pain that marked each of those decades.

I think people generally don’t realize HOW GOOD facial recognition is already. A couple years ago I signed up for a PimEyes free trial and quickly found photos of myself from over 10 years before that I had no idea were on the internet.
Facial recognition is a genie that can’t be put back in the bottle and every day I’m reminded I need to reread this book.

States need to push back hard here. ICE is saying Real ID isn't valid because some states extend it to those lawfully present and now a state issued birth certificate is deemed insufficient, in this case Maryland. This is very dangerous.

Loads of fellas though.

BREAKING: The Democratic National Committee will NOT release its long-awaited autopsy on Trump's 2024 win. The report is completed but Dem leaders decided it could distract from their winning streak, so it will remain secret. Not good.
