Credit to the Financial Times:

The Blue, Purple And Grey designations are top military brass with actual credentials.

Noteworthy that it was actual brass, not commissars, absent from October's appearances.

History has famously smiled on dictators who purge their top brass in advance of conflict.

Yes, there's a massive Canadian budget that is causing historic floor-crossings, but let us not forget that the City of Toronto has built this 30-foot tall bear on a throne statue, reminding us that the entropic slide into the end times can be fun, too. #cdnpoli

I shouldn't laugh because undoubtedly this sort of thing gets used by people with disabilities.

But there are a lot of cases where it's just dorks who are like "Yeah, my bed should be reliant on a stable internet connection."

Toronto Residents:

E-mail your councillors about the sixplex vote. We need to do better about land management, or there will be no future for working people in this city.

Disappointing, but perhaps not surprising to see that every forward-looking metric, such as

- "Making housing more affordable";
- "Reducing costs of living";
- "Making Canada a better place to live"

is identified as a low-priority item by Canadians aged 60+.

The stock market's reaction to Trump:

Nov 4, 2024 - Feb 19: Huge gains on the promise of the 'no rules' economy; one month of 'He's not serious about that tariff thing...'

Feb 19, 2025 - Present: The Nazis have opened the Ark of the Covenant, moments after that one Nazi exclaims 'It's beautiful!'

Hell, even the chart's a bit blown away.

Poilievre's conservatives must be losing their minds right now.

Because irony is dead, there is now a golden calf made of $100 bills on display at Donald Trump's Mar-a-Lago.

From the 'Listening to Toronto' residents survey - an interesting read itself:

"90 per cent of those who have used recreation and library programs over the last year said they were satisfied with the experience."

Support (and use!) Toronto's libraries and community centres.

Rachel Gilmore @rachelgilmore.bsky.social reporting that prorogation will not impact release of the foreign interference report, and that it will be released Jan 31st, 2025.

Could be significant with provincial and federal elections looming.

All credit to Rachel's reporting here.
