This has been the elephant in the room for the last decade. Had a conversation with my father recently where I asked him what, hypothetically, Trump could do to lose his support and he *could not answer the question*
the best part is none of Trump's base will ever ever ever doubt themselves or him. they are fundamentally ruined as people. he could execute their children in front of them and they'd still vote for him.
Maybe everyone can see it now, but the world's richest people have tanked it all to restock assets and get liquid after years of illegally playing with funny money. They used "the wokeness" as a cudgel and it worked. The next Disney princess WILL be white, as we all eat beans under the highway.

I'm not exactly sure how to phrase this but I think one of the problems dogging Dems is that they're still looking for the One Neat Trick that will turn back the clock to pre-2016 and get us back on the trajectory of "normal."

What’s critical here is “I respect the OFFICE of the president”. They fetishize institutions. The Dems are incapable of envisioning a system that doesn’t work within these idealized boundaries. They’re trying to work within a system that already is gone.
They just lost the election running this gambit. It only makes sense to assume moving forward their commitment to supporting xenophobic policy is a matter of principle for them. We have to accept they too want to be the party to deny people asylum.

Crashing the economy and making everything more expensive is a small price to pay if it means raising the number of Americans working in manufacturing from 7% to maybe as high as 8%.
But if the price of goods is rising to facilitate the reinvigoration of American production and a transition to an economy that prioritizes domestic goods and markets, that’s a tradeoff we should consider.
