The dew point will murder me today. Maybe I will reincarnate as a mermaid due to the sheer amount of moisture in the air.

I guess the em dash is the new Oxford comma—and I use both.
Stop spreading this garbage about em dashes in ACTUAL EDITED PROSE OH MY GOD.

Plenty of actual human beings know how to type em dashes! We’re called “writers” and “editors” — maybe you’ve heard of us?

Here it is folks, how you, too, can use the em dash in your writing!

This is the macOS version, but there’s a Windows & Linux version too.

I’ve been happily using em- & en-dashes in my writing for decades b/c THAT’S PROPER FUCKING GRAMMAR.

See also: apostrophes & quotes. These ain’t it: " ' 🤮

But congestion pricing polled terribly.

The “popularists” who run Democratic party strategy said we shouldn’t do it. Because the polls were bad.
But public opinion can change, and politicians can and should lead it.
Vote for politicians who will lead public opinion, not follow it.
Congestion pricing by the # ‘s 6 months in:
* 67k fewer drivers entering zone daily
* Delays in Holland Tunnel down 65%
* Traffic deaths down 32% so far in 2025
* $500m projected this year for MTA capital improvements
* B’way attendance +12%
* Subway ridership +7%

So yes this program is a SUCCESS.

Really tired of people asking why the New York Times supports rightwing narratives, as though it were a one-off.

The Times is a rag. Regardless of any previous reputation.

Either its owners are rightwing, or they fear rightwingers, or they want a piece of the lucrative rightwing media market.

With the awful news from the last couple hours, this post from the political optimism subreddit helped to break through a bit of the despair fog. Repubs know this is political suicide, ICE's support is crumbling despite the budget increase, and there's a myriad of ways to fight back. Keep strong.

A horrible budget was always going to pass. So I’m not surprised or shocked.

If anything, I’m demoralized by the weakness of the opposition in obstruction. And under no circumstances should like 95% of current Dems return next session. We need fighters.

Run on raising taxes on the wealthy, this is what I want to see.
No more navel gazing or infighting. We now have a clear task. Inform blue collar America Trump once again failed them. Let’s stand on wooden crates at tractor pulls and ask for the chance to go back in and save people’s healthcare, paid for by higher taxes on Trump and Musk.
