The position of ICE/DHS is that there is no law they have to obey, you cannot see their names or faces, you cannot tell anyone where they are or record them, and they can detain anyone indefinitely regardless of citizenship status. This is completely incompatible with a remotely free society
This week, ICE illegally denied me entry into a processing facility in my district, and today, they released a statement saying I “[gave] the appearance of a political stunt intended to generate publicity rather than pursue genuine oversight.”

the NBA moved it's all star game out of north carolina! it was a huge deal with a groundswell of support from everyone to the left of ben shapiro.
It's easy to forget now but we had decades of steady advancement on trans rights. The 2016 bathroom bills invited huge backlash! It was only after the media constructed sports and youth medications as 'debates' that opposition moved from the far right to the polite center.
The repression of trans people is not, by and large, a grassroots outpouring of hatred from the American people. It's something that's been carefully planted and tended over years by a handful of media people and their pet reporters.
