I am beginning to suspect that my one a day book ads for the novella are getting caught up in the “engagement farming” filtering that was implemented. Which, considering how much I post otherwise, is wild.

Australia's humpback whales are doing so well that their population is expected to reach carrying capacity and plateau in the near future--they have not just reached but exceeded pre-whaling numbers. For this to happen with such a long-lived, slow-reproducing species is near miraculous. #goodnews
These whales were hunted to 150 individuals. Now there are 50,000 of them
Once hunted almost to extinction, the population of humpback whales currently migrating down Australia's east coast has bounced back and is now greater than before whaling.

man, I'm still thinking about the last story in this collection, or chapter in this novella. just a great, ambivalent piece about repression and double identities that both loosely ties the rest together and (appropriately) raises some questions about things we thought we knew.
Five percent of writing any epic fantasy book (IMHO) is coming up with cool things you want to happen. Ninety-five percent is making them happen at the right time and in the right order.
