As long as there are people living on this earth, as long as there is a single patch of forest or a single coral reef, this fight will be worth fighting. No matter the odds, hope is the only way forward.
Back in 2017— when the last chance conservation effort to move vaquitas into protected sea pens failed—if you had told me there would still be vaquitas in 2025 I would not have believed it. They are still in terrible danger, but that they exist at all and are having babies is miraculous #hope
The rarest porpoises on Earth are hanging on
The latest report shows that the estimated number of endangered vaquita porpoises has modestly increased

Australia's humpback whales are doing so well that their population is expected to reach carrying capacity and plateau in the near future--they have not just reached but exceeded pre-whaling numbers. For this to happen with such a long-lived, slow-reproducing species is near miraculous. #goodnews
These whales were hunted to 150 individuals. Now there are 50,000 of them
Once hunted almost to extinction, the population of humpback whales currently migrating down Australia's east coast has bounced back and is now greater than before whaling.
