In the midst of the Larian hysteria there were people who decided that the one forgotten texture in E33 that slipped in in 2022 was enough to say the game is AI slop and a moral failure to support them. So I guess for some people acknowledging the existence of AI by devs is too much already.
As the backlash to generative AI in video games continues to pick up steam heading into 2026, it'll be fascinating to see what is considered "made with generative AI." Can a dev team say they're not using AI if they're writing design docs with Copilot or using chatGPT to make schedules and budgets?

There's a way in which many people in the audience (films, games, whatever) are inherently suspicious of storytellers and this is an example of how that manifests.
It's a compulsion to *beat* the art they consume. Find a way to assert themselves over the work. Selfish and stupid.

Jeremy is very right about the whole N64/PS1/Saturn era of consoles feeling compromised. Each machine had big flaws that made my brain (and eyes) itch in uncomfortable ways.
