I've never actually posted about this on Bluesky but over the last few years I've been novelizing the now-retro JRPG 'Skies of Arcadia," a game very dear to my heart.

The process has been gradual but I think it's a very fun read for folks looking for some adventure.

I shared this on social years ago but a rewatch of The Matrix Ressurections has me circling back to an old Matrix Online roleplayer's Livejournal once again..

the game, it's live events... all documented in-character with tons of screenshots.

What an interesting time for online games!

As another piece goes up this morning, I also do want to say that while I still am job-hunting I'm also happily back to writing for publications.

I know budgets are tight I'm having a very good time doing this work again so if you think you might want to work together, I'd happily chat!

BREAKING: Starbucks workers have launched a massive, nationwide strike.

Baristas in 40 cities have walked off the job on the busiest day of Starbucks' year.

Upwards of 12,000 @sbworkersunited.org members could ultimately go on strike as the union escalates.

Done with the gym so it’s time to start the OCTOPATH 0 demo! I’m really interested to see how this works as a adaptation/reimagining of Champions of the Continent.

Such an interesting way to take something ephemeral (a mobile game) and make it concrete.

I watched both Frankenstein and Bram' Stoker's Dracula yesterday and that was fun! I prefer the latter but both had a lot of beauty... and a fun kind of messiness.

For what it's worth, I started a Letterboxd last month for idle films thoughts if you're into that. letterboxd.com/dreamcastaway/

One of the defining feelings in American life, for decades now, is elites doing plainly criminal shit and nothing at all happening as a result. It is deranging in a way that virtually nothing else is. Media fixates on perceived street lawlessness but shit like this matters much more in my opinion.

Much of the hand wringing, imo, is over a critic explicitly saying they are judging the moral fabric of a piece of art because of the tools used to create it and it’s making some folks feel uncomfortable and shamed. The people who feel that way should sit with that feeling.

We're lucky to have *any* review in this age take such a convincing and evenly argued moral stance on anything.

That a CEO disagrees might be "news" but it's hardly shocking. At best, the only time they think of games as art is to ask "can this win us a few awards?"

But they don't really care.
Epic Games CEO Tim Sweeney has defended AI following Eurogamer's 2/5 Arc Raiders review, which criticised the game's use use of AI voice generation. "AI dialog generation + human personality and tuning could totally transform gaming," Sweeney said.

If your game has voice acting, then working with the voice actors is half of your writing process. It's not complete until you've heard it interpreted and reimagined by a voice actor. And they always reimagine it in ways that elevate the writing, in ways you never would have imagined yourself.

Checking my Kingdom Hearts discs on the CRT. Looks great!

Will probably start exploring and writing about these days after I finish Radiant Dawn in the next few weeks.

KH1 might be my personal favorite? We'll see! I think it's the one that is the most "RPG-y" at least

A minor Age of Imprisonment thought but one thing really good about this genre (and the beefier tech) is that when stuff starts going south and Ganondorf starts 'dorfing...

the sheer amount of enemies on screen—far in excess of anything from BotW/Tears—sells how BAD things are

I've never gone but am foregoing a trip to Frosty Faustings this year and doing this instead. Excited for this! I've never gone to something like this not for work.

(Though this does mean if you need a freelancer...)

I'm not a sub-tweeting sort but I remember reading a thing by That Writer which I am pretty sure was speaking about my work quite meanly and like...

it just seems a vicious way to live and write. none of this is a content. either with other writers or the art itself

sort of incredible to read a review that doesn't just made a vague nod at AI being bad, but actively reckons with the ways in which falling obsessively to AI usage actively obliterates the artistic intent and integrity of the work you've made.
