i’ve said it before: my parents told their right wing families to fuck off (literally) in the early 1970s over vietnam + civil rights

since then, every member of my family, including my 20 yr old white nephew, has voted straight blue

this is how we build a movement + win
The vice president ran an excellent campaign. The past 4 years while she was working to make the country better. A right wing campaign was growing. Start talking to your family & friends. The root of the problem isn’t on the top. It’s locally !
If you are a Democrat who is spending time attacking Kamala Harris or her campaign rather than focusing on the fight ahead, you aren't helping anyone.

Alice is an icon among disability justice icons. One of the baddest bitches to live. She made a way for herself & everyone who follows her in the world of disability representation. A literal (MacAurther) genius. Her impact is immeasurable. I can’t believe she’s gone.

HOLY SHIT. They found the genes for fibromyalgia - and it's *not* autoimmune, it's the central nervous system. It's very cool to see some progress made on the thing that's ruined my life since late teenage years!
Medical Republic: 'Fibromyalgia finally gets a genetic fingerprint'

'Additionally, certain risk loci overlapped with long covid (BPTF) and ME/CFS (OLFM4, RABGAP1L/GPR52), two poorly characterised disorders, albeit with different lead variants.'

🧵 Let’s stick to facts:

COVID still kills.
The pandemic still exists.
People stopped testing — the virus didn’t.

Alice was a mentor, a friend and one of the people who I credit with helping me find my voice.

She gave me the strength to embrace my disabilities and use my skills as a writer to help others.

My life is forever changed because of her.

I will have more to say once I’ve processed 💔

For those of us who became disabled as a result of the pandemic, Alice was a bright light walking us through the experience. She did so much to show many of us what it meant to see disability as a beautiful part of who we are, not something to resent.

Get your flu shot and a COVID booster. We’re seeing both in clinic, and staff is also getting sick even though we’re vaccinated. If we’re too sick to work, we can’t help you. Wear a mask if you’re in a doctor’s office, ER, or any crowded place. We don’t have a functional health system in place.

The last Democrat to win the majority of the white vote was LBJ in 1964.
With a Democratic trifecta & a large moderate Republican faction in Congress, LBJ was able to get the Voting Rights Act of 1965 passed, but in the 1966 midterms, Democrats lost 40 House seats, 3 Senate seats & 8 governorships.🧵

UPDATE: The Senate votes 53-47 to shoot down the Baldwin amendment to extend ACA funds for 1 year. A party-line vote with every Republican rejecting it.
An important vote in this series: Tammy Baldwin’s proposal to extend ACA expiring funds for 1 year. It’s structured as a motion to table (i.e. scrap it from the amendment tree). But it’ll show the appetite (or lack thereof) in the Senate to address this issue.

By refusing to work with Democrats on a solution before open enrollment started, Republicans have already pushed millions of Americans off the health care cliff.

Trump pardoned a drug dealer with ties to the Kushner family, and today that man was sent back to federal prison for threatening to kill a woman, groping his family's nanny, and several other crimes.

Seems relevant, given Trump has admitted he has no idea who he's pardoning...
