Today my lovely girls and I held the funeral of my husband. We had known each other for over 40 years, and, although separated, he had been living 3 doors away, so I could look after him. Lovely fella, you're missed and loved xx

🌱🌾 Hedges store more carbon than fields

A new study found that soil under hedges stores 40% more carbon than adjacent grasslands, with older hedges increasing carbon stocks over time.

hmmmm, rent going up by sixty quid a month this year, what a nice little treat, of course the flat has grown by five percent in that time so this feels very reasonable

Also, in the UK the author gets paid every time their book is borrowed.
If you want to read a new book coming out but don't want to buy it, a great thing you can do is ask your local library to order it. The more requests they get, the more likely they are to acquire it and then lots of people will get to read it who othewise wouldn't.

I have a big ask. My 9yo son is autistic and he’s been raising a betta fish he named Kevin. Yesterday He asked if he could “share a photo of Kevin with the whole world“. I don’t know if this will work, but a dad’s gotta try. Like and share if that’s your thing. Kevin says hi! 🐟👋

Stephen from the Outsiders project. He died soon afterwards aged only 39. As the cold sets in it is worth remembering that someone homeless dies on the streets in Britain every six hours. As a society we are defined by how we treat those less fortunate than ourselves.

I grew up in Bangladesh as a Muslim, came to UK to attend an all boys private school, I won't pretend I was always this way, or that I didn't make homophobic jokes to fit in with the rich white kids. But then, age 15, I heard Hide Away by Erasure, and got it. A hard-on for Bowie sorted the rest x
