This is the Gov looking for your input on the BBC. It takes a while to complete (15/20 mins) but it’s pretty comprehensive and covers most aspects.

Please share. I’m surprised many people haven’t seen it yet.

Could the Trump Administration use the FBI to sow distrust about the midterm elections?

1970’s Roudebush v. Hartke decision sets a clear legal precedent that the federal government has no place interfering with how states deal with challenges to election integrity. buff.ly/l7r4y36
How a largely forgotten Supreme Court case can help prevent an executive branch takeover of federal elections
An FBI raid on a Georgia elections facility has sparked concern about Trump administration interference in the 2026 midterms. An obscure 1970s Supreme Court case provides guardrails against that.

Sitting Hare - by Charles Tunnicliffe (1901 - 1979)

If you are not already aware of Charles Tunnicliffe, do look him up. His paintings of British birds and wildlife truly are exceptional...

Possibly my all-time favourite #hare painting 🧡

This matters because London has among the lowest vaccination rates for measles in England - there are many pockets of unvaccinated communities that could be at significant risk from a runaway outbreak:
🚨 EXCLUSIVE: Health officials are racing to contain a growing measles outbreak in London, which has struck down dozens of young children and affected 7 schools and a nursery.

UKHSA has warned an outbreak across London could see 40,000 - 160,000 cases:

'The Lovers,' (1911) is a superb example of Léon de Smet's key Impressionist theme: an intimate moment depicted in a domestic setting with the viewer occupying the role of voyeur; one of the great Belgian artists of the 20thC yet little known outside his home country.

Old bank, high on hillside - a semi-permeable barrier to slow water flowing off the hills, reducing flood risk in the valley below, preventing soil from washing away in runoff. An abundance of plant life drinking up that slowed water, supporting birds & animals.

Re ‘Mortar and pestle’, the English language conventionally adheres to the rule of ‘ablaut reduplication’, where the ‘i’ or ‘e’ word comes first, the ‘a’ or ‘o’ word second: hip-hop, clip-clop, ping-pong, ding-dong, sing-song, riff-raff. ‘Mortar and pestle’ is an abomination unto the Lord.
A question for my American friends especially @bcdreyer.social:
Without coming over all Mildred Natwick - although, why not - may I discuss pestles? I just read a recipe in the NY Times which suggested using a mortar and pestle.
In the UK we always refer them as a pestle and mortar. Discuss.
