Also voting present is insane but I can’t believe there are now just 23 democrats who are unwilling to explicitly advance articles.

Haven’t checked them yet but can’t wait to look at the roll call tallies.

You need to have your head examined if you are a member of Congress too chickenshit to say calling for the execution of your colleagues is bad.

The last time a vote was forced, less than 85 members were willing to do what 140 just did.

You keep forcing the votes and make them debate. That’s how this gets done.

Yes, I'm taking the first step towards Noem's impeachment.

I demand a full investigation into Secretary Noem's unlawful actions and unethical behavior. The people will have accountability.

The Georgian People have endless courage and determination, and fearlessness.
We should have half their strength!
If this happened in the U.S., Trump would be gone in weeks.

We never do this sort of thing ever.
Day 379 of nonstop protests in Georgia.

In 2 hours, standing here will be illegal. Citizens will need to inform police 5 days in advance about protests. Police can order them to change location/time. Blocking the road/sidewalk = 15 days detention, up to 1 year for repeated 'offenses'.

It’s annoying for me to keep saying it but you want something, you push for what you want, find the people who can give it to you, and don’t stop annoying them until they cave.

Article I: Murdering for Oil

Whereas Donald Trump has repeatedly stated he wishes to invade countries to “take their oil”

Whereas Donald Trump claimed he would be a dictator on Day One so that he could “drill baby drill”

Whereas a Venezuelan oil tanker was seized…

It all is a very big deal. Schumer Jeffries and other at the top of the food chain are raking it in by not protecting democracy. Impeachment helps protect democracy.
BS by congress members trying not to impeach means they are part of the not protecting democracy corrupt crew

The GOP has lost control of the chamber, I am extremely skeptical they have the votes to stop impeachment votes all together.

That means there is a void. It should be filled with calls to throw Trump out of office and into prison.

Keep writing (and yelling at) your Representatives about impeachment. It’s working.
The most useful thing about forcing the votes is it reveals SO much information about what is going on here.

For instance, we now know just how freaked out leadership is about this issue that they are voting present rather than stopping debate altogether.

Total sea change.

The Founders built a system designed to enable and legally legitimize popular resistance to a tyrant, via strong free speech protections, the right to jury trial, and all sorts of restrictions on direct federal government action against individuals.

And the People are resisting, as elites cower.
It’s striking how many of the most mundane features of American democracy, built centuries ago to protect against remembered tyrants from centuries prior, are still the bulwark against Trumpian fascism, while all the newfangled modern institutions simply collapsed on first contact with him
JUST IN: Assistant U.S. Attorney Jeffrey Snell just confirmed, at the prodding of U.S. Magistrate Judge Keri Holleb Hotaling, that this motion for dismissal followed a "no bill" from a grand jury.

That means the grand jury refused to indict.

1) Get caught trying.

2) But it's not a fact, anyway. Al Green already did it once and there was no rules change. And how's Johnsons' record at passing rules right now, esp. one that'd be disempowering backbenchers?

3) It makes no sense to worry about saving a rule only by refusing to ever use it.
In response to using Rule IX, a Dem rep's staff member told me that "it's a fact" that the majority will simply change the House rules to remove Rule IX to prevent a member from using it to force a vote on articles of impeachment. It's a defeatist pov but curious your response to them

Yes, that's how it's ideally supposed to work. In the academic jargon we call this little-known phenomenon "democracy."

This is exactly the problem. You can't go on... accurately!... about how he's a lawless wannabe dictator who wants to destroy democracy and is leading a floridly corrupt kleptocracy, but then squirm and dodge when asked if he should be removed from office any time sooner than 2029.
It’s a necessity in order to actually describe many of the worst things that the administration is doing because the logical or only remedy for so many of them is impeachment. Probably part of why so many members of Congress have trouble speaking authentically about current political realities

You could impeach him and mirror the tone and language of the Declaration of Independence. You could have constituents volunteer reasons in which they were personally harmed by his crimes, and it could be a true citizen's impeachment. (In Illinois, not hard!) A lot of visible avenues.

There's a Hill bubble narrative, posing as savvy realism, in treating impeachment as some radioactive poison and so Democrats must squash any talk of it. But there's zero evidence for that. No polls back it up, nor recent history. It's all just pundit-brained conventional wisdom eating its own tail.

At the end, the speaker pro tem absurdly chided him for "engaging in personalities toward the president."
