He says he got a congratulatory call from Curtis Sliwa, though.

The replies to this have taught me that there is a type of person ob this app who thinks the military is bad but wants people to live in a barracks
sorry but i dont think building homes is so paramount that "kitchens" can become an optional trait to have in them just to ensure a few more units get built

The conservative movement has turned against reality on every scientific issue of our time, from gun violence to climate change to epidemiology.

If campuses are ideologically homogenous, it's not because academia has ostracized conservatives. It's because conservatives have ostracized academia.

corporate DEI was always ~90% wokewashing, though the government versions of it had more teeth. but even it it was a smokescreen, the anti-DEI movement is *also* a smokescreen for bringing back explicit white supremacy
I honestly don’t functionally disagree that a lot of DEI stuff has been annoying, pointless and some of it even actively counterproductive, I just think the backlash is several million times worse than whatever the issues were. It’s like murdering someone for chewing loudly.
I thought of DEI policies as mildly annoying like IRB. They exist for a reason but it's kind of hard to bureaucratize a response to a real concern. The bigger issue was if all my colleagues look like me or all my students look like me, that's not good, fair, or likely to be a vibrant place.

again, the goal - as someone like Chris Rufo will repeatedly and explicitly tell you, to your face! - is to equate as many public services as possible with superfluous, woke consultant bloat so that it can be hollowed out; the chic heterodox "good riddance" is walking straight into that trap
it's hard to read the chart in the screenshot but what this moron is actually complaining about isn't "DEI" staff, it's special education teachers. these ghouls are coming for people with disabilities and they aren't even shy about it.

For those keeping track at home, Dems held the floor all night and are still going strong this morning.
35+ Dems plan to hold the Senate floor all night to oppose the confirmation of Musk-Trump funding freeze architect Russ Vought. THIS is how we fight back while in the minority.

Hélio Gracie had strong ties to integralismo, a Brazilian fascist movement in the 1930's.
Even nowadays most of his sons are Bolsonaro supporters, so birds of a feather...
Although I disagree that BJJ in itself is fash, some of the culture permeating it is too much Gracie influenced

I also think this is the reason a lot of people get mad at The Groups: The ACLU should absolutely have been front and center aggressively messaging on this and defending their (reasonable!) recommendations.
the ACLU asked for commutation for everyone who had been under home confinement for at least a year under the CARES Act, and Biden did precisely that
Man this commutations crisis really makes me wonder why we took anything on the chin for prison abolition, jesus fucking christ

"Yes RFK Jr believes a lot of unhinged things but did you know that he also believes some slightly less unhinged things?"
RFK believes pandemic lockdowns were more restrictive and oppressive than the Holocaust, that vaccines cause autism, and that tap water may be turning kids gay.

But, sure, let’s question whether the “conspiracist” label applies because some countries in Europe don’t fluoridate their water.

Part of the consequence of COVID (as I write about in The Stolen Year) is a loss of that shared resource. Public school enrollment in cities like NYC has not recovered, and demographics suggest it will not. The kids who are still there, are poorer.

We got a million stories like this during the first Trump Admin, anonymous quotes from GOP electeds expressing "concerns" about his actions and "weighing" whether they could vote for his agenda.

It's access journalism at its worst. In the end they supported everything.
Republican senators are poised to decide whether Robert F. Kennedy Jr. becomes the nation’s next health secretary. But in interviews this week, a half-dozen GOP lawmakers said they had questions or outright concerns about his nomination.

Republicans did not rule out voting for Trump’s pick to run HHS, and several said they were excited about the former Democrat’s ideas.
