A joke for the history buffs:

Germany’s satirical newspaper @der-postillon.com titles: “Vienna Academy of the Arts offers Trump admission as a student — They don’t want to get blamed again“

I heard Acting President of the U.S. Putin congratulated Acting President of Venezuela Trump on his new title.

We have lost 68,000 manufacturing jobs since Trump took office.

We have lost 161,000 blue collar jobs.

We need new economic leadership that doesn't concentrate wealth & power in the hands of the few.

An economy that works for all Americans.

We need a new economic patriotism.

This is a jaw-dropping piece about ICE recruitment.
The article appears to be partly paywalled and I would encourage anyone who can afford it to subscribe, Slate's got a hell of a sale going right now and subscriptions are how they can afford to pay freelancers for articles like this one

For my fellow brokies, though:
You’ve Heard About Who ICE Is Recruiting. The Truth Is Far Worse. I’m the Proof.
What happens when you do minimal screening before hiring agents, arming them, and sending them into the streets? We're all finding out.

Renee Good’s last words were to ICE agent Jonathan Ross: “That’s fine, dude. I’m not mad at you.” Then Ross shot Renee three times in the face. As she was dying, his last words to her were: “Fucking bitch.” And JD Vance thought that exchange exonerated ICE. That says it all.

This is a perfectly succinct summary. Imagine if another country decided it didn’t like this administration, which is already easy to do, and decided to remove it by force with no plan other than exploiting our resources. Un-American, illegal, and an insult to our constitution.
The invasion of Venezuela has nothing to do with American security. Venezuela is not a security threat to the U.S..

This is about making Trump's oil industry and Wall Street friends rich. Trump's foreign policy - the Middle East, Russia, Venezuela - is fundamentally corrupt.

It’s not about drugs. If it was, Trump wouldn’t have pardoned one of the largest narco traffickers in the world last month.

It’s about oil and regime change.

And they need a trial now to pretend that it isn’t. Especially to distract from his sinking under Epstein and skyrocketing healthcare costs.

Marco Rubio is reportedly saying Maduro will stand trial in US courts.

Which means it’s now the US administration’s position that US courts can hold foreign presidents, but not the US president, accountable for crimes.

They were told that by elites
After a year in which Trump has bombed ...
- Venezuela
- Nigeria
- Iran
- Yemen
- Syria
- Somalia
- and civilian boats in international waters
... I’m thinking about the voters who convinced themselves that Trump was the candidate of foreign policy restraint.

“Let me reiterate: I do not approve of the mayor locking the doors of the mall and igniting a bus full of C4 in the food court. I may have worn a shirt that said, VOTE FOR THE MAYOR WHO WILL BLOW UP THE MALL FOOD COURT, but that was just my fun way of saying I only cared about the bowling alley.”
My favorite McSweeney's piece this year (although there were soooo many good ones)
Our 2nd most-read piece of 2025 is by the forever funny @mikedrucker.bsky.social, and we have no idea what he was getting at here, but it seemed to have struck a nerve with many, many readers.

One man brought us beloved movies and characters and united us with engaging, enduring stories. The other can’t make a move without stealing from Americans, trespassing on our freedoms, or committing sexual assault. He probably committed several crimes before his first Big Mac today.
He's just lost it. Now saying Rob and Michele Reiner caused their own murder because they didn't support him.

So sick.

Damn good questioning here.
FBI operations director Michael Glasheen says antifa is the government’s “primary concern” as “the most immediate violent threat” domestically. Bennie Thompson asks where antifa exists in the US and how many members it has.

“Well that’s very fluid.”

A remarkable exchange. Full:

Tl;dr. “I’m losing my marbles and I’m taking the country with me.”
Every part of this is bonkers. The intro is bonkers. The transition to his health is bonkers. The mention that other presidents didn't need cognitive exams is bonkers. The claim that this screening test is somehow hard is bonkers. The idea that criticism of him is treason is bonkers. All of it.
