Zine reviews! Hell yeah!
I love zines. I love the DIY ethos, the physicality, the small-scale, the reciprocity and generosity on display whenever zine-makers gather. I love all of it! This is my little corner to celebrate zin...

apropos james watson’s death i had an idle thought today about how stupid race/iq stuff sounds. “buh if your skin is darker you are biologically less smart” is a thing only a dumbass can believe

big papers, particularly the NYT, just *love* stealing a story idea and re-reporting it without credit
here is my story about how Zohran's focus on community amid the loneliness epidemic helped young people connect their politics to an organizing infrastructure, that interviewed ZM, and does not use the NYT's framing of "they don't know how to make friends" :-) and also ran 4 days before NYT's lol
Zohran Mamdani's Establishment-Fighting Campaign Built Community for Young People
“What Mamdani has done is not only inspire and mobilize young people, but he has exposed the establishment and some of their calcified views of participation and inclusion.”

we can chalk it up to youth and inexperience but the biggest mistake the mamdani campaign made was winning by 8.8% and not 1.5%, which is the margin needed for the media to say it’s a total mandate

BREAKING: Starbucks workers have just authorized a massive strike.

Union Starbucks baristas voted to authorize the strike by 92%.

Now baristas in over 25 cities could launch an unfair labor practice strike on Thursday, November 13th.

Curtis Sliwa, a complete maniac and deeply prejudiced republican, has treated Zohran Mamdani with more respect than a gigantic chunk of "liberal" politicians and public figures. He has treated him like a human being which is more than I can say about shit like this.
Joe Gebbia, a billionaire, is the co-founder of AirBnB, a presidential appointee and a Tesla board member claiming ISIS waited until the last minute to endorse Mamdani.

This is sick.

I am taking particular pleasure in the complete collapse of trans-as-unbeatable-wedge-issue narrative this morning. It might be an 80-20 issue in voters minds, but it has to be on voters minds to matter. The results in VA demonstrate that it is very much not on voters minds.

I strongly believe that mayors should be required to wear a big sash that says “MAYOR” on it. In recent times mayors have forgotten that they serve we the people, and we want the sash

basically every 2024 truism is dead. Trump did not build a lasting multiracial coalition or turn young men into committed Republicans. You don’t need to cave on trans rights to win. The pundits have nothing left to tell you.

This is a good video about some of the specific, indefensible choices made by The New York Times in their coverage of Zohran Mamdani that you might have forgotten about.

By @tynan.unimportantbird.com, who sifted through a lot of bullshit so you don't have to.

A minor but hilarious detail about this story. Peters got a fact blatantly wrong (Mamdani wouldn't be the first democratic socialist mayor) but instead of correcting it, the Times stealth edited the story and still didn't actually fix the error?

I think a lot about the NYT rushing to publish Mamdani's college application because they were afraid of getting "scooped" by Chris Rufo

Looks like he's more unknown than unpopular according to your poll, perhaps due to the fact he is running in a local city's race. Meanwhile every bit of national news about him is that he's a jihadist communist who's going to steal from you.
