They're called public records for a reason. Starting today, WIRED will *stop paywalling* articles that are primarily based on public records obtained through the Freedom of Information Act, becoming the first publication to partner with @freedom.press to offer this for our new coverage.
Wired is dropping paywalls for FOIA-based reporting. Others should follow
As the administration does its best to hide public records from the public, Wired magazine is stepping up to help stem the secrecy

If you're wondering whether you should promote your book or your latest publication now with all the chaos, the answer is yes. We need your words. We need to flood the channels with art and literature. So go for it, friends.

It’s nice to be kind to the nice.

It’s challenging to be kind to the challenging.
I believe that the microcosm IS the macrocosm: The smallest acts of compassion, of simple human decency, can ripple out and transform the world. As Eliot Rosewater (via Kurt Vonnegut) observed: “God damn it, you’ve got to be kind.”

Now more than ever.

“Trump is acting like a king because he is too weak to govern like a president. He is trying to substitute perception for reality. He is hoping that perception then becomes reality. That can only happen if we believe him.”

A gay guy, a Black man, and a woman walk into a flight deck— that’s not the beginning of a joke, but just a regular day at work! There was so much DEI on this plane that we could hardly get in the air. Luckily my limp wrists were able to wrestle the heavy jet back to the ground 💅🏼

Spoke to me as someone living in a border town, these immigration stunts are a threat to our community.

Seems like a good time to point out that you can download from the library of congress, and it would be worthwhile to download probably as much as you can while you can

During today’s event, we gave out over 2,000 books to families and teachers who lost their libraries in the Los Angeles wildfires.

We were able to spend $1700 to buy a portion of those books from a local indie bookstore. The remaining new and like new books were donated by the bookish community. 📚❤️‍🩹

To truly erase you,
I would have to become
someone else entirely,
someone who never traced
your name in the condensation
on car windows,
who never memorized
the weight of your laughter,
who never swallowed
your silence like medicine.

Wanna see Talib Kweli and Future Islands in concert. Trying to find an alternative to Spotify and also trying to support Bandcamp. It's important to support artists.
