I just set up a recruiting profile for my 14 year old soccer playing kid - that doesn’t make me feel old or anything 🤣. Anyway, he plays soccer at a really high level - pass the link along to any school contacts you might know, ty. my.sportsrecruits.com/athlete/patr...

It’s that annual time of year where I am contrasting where I was a week ago during deer hunting to where I am now, at work. I don’t mind my work at all but it can’t compare to watching the sun come up while hanging out in the woods.

“Icicle Kick” - that’s funny. I’m not sure the Canadian Premiere League could have asked for a better marketing opportunity for their championship game! That was fun to watch. Congrats Ottawa! www.bbc.com/sport/footba...

About every half hour today, one of my brain cells says “Hey, should we think about that Blue Jays game at all?” and then all the other ones go “NOPE” and beat the first one to death.

Let’s just go win it next year instead. What a ride. Jays for life. Congrats Dodgers.

In was a teenager the last time the Jays did this. I went to my first game at old Exhibition stadium when I was 4 in ‘79. And I know how much this will mean to my folks who are diehard fans. Exciting times! Go Jays!

There’s a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for people to build on the rubble of what’s being destroyed before our eyes. Private corporations bending over to forcefeed everyone government-approved speech is evil and amoral, but more than anything this creates boring, inauthentic, unwatchable shit.

Before corporations had to choose whether to rip off artists or destroy the planet. Now thanks to AI Data Centers they can do both simultaneously

The fact that the thing we're calling artificial intelligence *can't do math* and yet we're jamming it into programs that successfully *have done math* for decades, then warning people against using the AI to do math, seems like an excellent summary of where we are.
Good thing no one uses Microsoft Excel for anything related to legal, regulatory or compliance business functions

I thought the worst thing about it was the ridiculous hyper-airbrushed texture we’ve come to expect from this nonsense technology and then I saw the actual full ad and apparently this fake woman made of environmental ruin and stolen art is about eight feet tall

I lose faith and trust in people I consider friends when they send me videos from garbage people and say things like: "You HAVE to watch this. This person is such a JERK."

And I'm like... no. I won't. And you shouldn't either. WTF is wrong with you? You know they're doing it on purpose.

There is nothing more disappointing than seeing what looks like a cool TTRPG project then you dig a little into it and all the art is "supported by Midjourney/AI"
If you can't be bothered to make it I can't be bothered to invest in it ✌️

Chatbots — LLMs — do not know facts and are not designed to be able to accurately answer factual questions. They are designed to find and mimic patterns of words, probabilistically. When they’re “right” it’s because correct things are often written down, so those patterns are frequent. That’s all.

I saw someone say AI is useful because it generates ideas. My dude, I'm full of ideas. I have docs and docs marked under 'ideas.' I have outlines and fragments of stuff I might work on. Trunked stories galore. Even if I continue to write a novel a year for the next 40 years I won't run out of ideas.

Companies are *mandating* the pivot because the product is both deeply unpopular and ineffective.

Same reason a lot of subscriptions are "folding in" the feature into plans and raising the cost to compensate.

If the consumer won't buy it, it's not the product's fault.. just *force* them to buy it!
