UPDATE: if you are in city of LA, the following council members need to be bullied:
Nazarian, Yaroslavsky, Padilla, Harris-Dawson, McOsker.

Nazarian especially needs to be bullied (he's a landlord!!!) and cosplayed as an affordable housing supporter.
toolkit below:
Okay so I know we are all bullying our federal senators but if you live in Los Angeles, the city council on wednesday will be voting on reforms for the rent stabilization ordinance and we are urging council to cap rent at 3%. Some are waffling (nazarian, lmao) so toolkit here: laforward.org/larso

It was harder getting endorsements for Zohran Mamdani from Democrats than them caving to Republicans to mutually strip us of healthcare

when your vote is so toxic you have the Chair of the DNC saying this shit sucks, you really have to admire the levels of embarrassment here
As this vote moves to the House, I stand with Democratic leadership as they refuse to rubber stamp the full-scale Republican assault on Americans’ health care and I am proud of the majority of Senate Democrats who opposed this vote.

Beyond the harm that it will to constituents once Republicans inevitably renege, backing down now does so much damage to the Democrats on the best week for their brand since 2020. Such loser behavior.

Schumer will vote against the deal, but that does not matter.

Either he gave the moderates nodding approval to their actions, or he is unable to keep his caucus together.

This is his failure. @schumer.senate.gov should resign tonight (at least as leader) if this deal goes through.

agreeing to make a terrible deal while your main opponent is quite literally being boo'd on live tv by an entire stadium of people is the kind of political instinct you'd normally only find in a 3 week old dead goldfish

I'm legitimately confused about the play here. No person who now is going to go without coverage in the ACA is going to just blame the GOP. They will rightly blame the Democrats too. Dems won't get "points" for "fighting" if they cave. It makes little sense.

Democratic party leadership has been on autopilot for ten years, they weren't losing to fascism, fascism isn't popular enough for them to lose to fascism, they were allowing it to fill the void where their leadership should have been. Tonight we're seeing that we have other options. They should too.

this is very funny, but to be earnest for a moment: the same guys setting $10M on fire here are the ones who can’t stand the idea of buses being free, of rent being affordable, of anything at all being easier for all the people for whom $10M would be an unimaginably transformative amount of money
according to @jessyedwards.bsky.social of @hellgatenyc.com Curtis Sliwa just said on stage that he was offered $10 million to drop out of the race
